Great news Ellewoods. Glad to hear your house and animals are all safe. Hope they've got the fire under control now. All the best mate.

Damn Ellewoods....thats awful mate!! I'm so sorry for you and your family. Just read your email so am late in replying. We've been watching the fires spreading because my daughter and her kids live in Oregon....fortunately they are on the west (ocean) side of the mountains where its not so bad.

I just hope you and your family and animals are safe and that your home by some miracle has survived. If you all need a place to stay I have a nice big place on six acres by the ocean in BC, just over the border, and you are very welcome to come here for as long as you need to get things sorted out. We even have a nice big screen to watch Hull City games live on!!! Let me know if I can help in any way. All the best to you and yours....we'll be praying for you mate!!

Thanks for the offer Canada. Luckily for us anyway it seems to have worked out. I'll have to clean the smoke smell out of the house but beyond that it seems ok. I'll probably see if any of my neighbors need me to put their animals on my place for a while and build fencing for them. I'm also sure someone will need my help repairing their house or building new fencing, barns or chicken coops but that's all regular farm stuff that I like to do anyway so I will probably just be a little more busy then I normally am for a few months.

That's terrific news mate, those firefighters have done a hell of a job. Really pleased it's worked out not so bad for ya.

Sorry to hear that, Elle. Hope you and yours are all ok. Can you at least console yourself slightly with a Myhill autograph?

Haha once again I failed at getting to see an English team live. They were about to take the field for warm ups when I got the call and they weren't going to do any photos or autographs till after the games so it sucked. The only positive was when I thought I had lost everything I was happy that the shirt I was wearing and had not burnt up was my bonus electrical kit which I had on for the game. Beyond that I had a hard time finding to many positives about the situation.

G'day ellewoods.
Just got on line after being distracted with other things the past few days - my house goes to auction this coming Saturday. Even though my response is late I was going to add my expressions of concern. You can't have too many friends at a time like this!
Luckily, I read through the entire thread, so caught up with the latest. Great to hear you have got through largely unscathed and all the best with whatever rebuilding or clean up you are left with.

A happy ending for you and your animals elle, so glad for you all. Hope most of your neighbours have as good a result.

A bit of tightening in my heart as just loosed, which is a strange sensation as I usually don't care a s**t about other people. I'm all made up for you, great news all is intact.

Now go buy those prisoners a round of beers, they deserve it <ok>

A neighbor called us a few hours ago and told us of a back road that had a cop who was being cool and letting people in to see their homes. We got in. Crazy enough my place is fine. My girls uncle must have thought my property was farther into the trees than it is bc they held the fire in the trees to what seemed to me a few hundred feet of my property line. I could see where they dropped the fire reppelant on my house. I could also see where they drove fire trucks all through my place but they saved everything, even my chicken coop and goat shed in the trees. My animals that escaped and ran off from my girls uncle had even come back and were hanging out in their paddock. There are insane amounts of ash and burnt leaves everywhere, on my roof, in my fields etc but the fire fighters who defended my place put them all out. I think it might have been the prisoners because about 30 of them were asleep in the shade of some trees on the place next to mine. Lots of places we drove by weren't so lucky obviously but they did a hell of a job saving tons of houses we did drive past. Crazy weekend for sure.

Wonderful News, must be a big relief for you.

Wonderful News, must be a big relief for you.

It is. The current count on my road is 51 structures gone but only 13 are homes. When I was listening to the radio scanner and they were abandoning structure after structure I thought they were talking about homes but I guess it was also barns and things like that. They were able to stop the fire crossing the road so they think it will burn itself out on august 1st. They have already taken all the planes and 1,000 of the firefighters on my road to that Yosemite fire that is growing quickly. No rest at all for those dudes I guess.
