I decided to create a thread for the EFL Playoff games this season.

Thought it might be good to keep discussions on that all together, and separate from general football news debate...

Interesting historical piece here on the BBC Sport website...

Scotland qualified for the 1950 World Cup Finals, but the Scottish FA decided not to bother going :emoticon-0104-surpr
It seems the Home Internationals were considered more important.
Or at least that was one of the reasons...

Shock horror sensation- Celtic get a VAR penalty from nowhere nine minutes into stoppage time to beat 'Well. who would have expected it?

If Hearts win the SPL now it will be a miracle - and not a minor one.

Should they need it, Celtic will get a late VAR decision, guaranteed. They'll get the rub during the whole match as well.
To counter that massive disadvantage, Hearts will likely need to be 3 goals clear going into second half stoppage time.

It's a pity, as they've done so well this season.
Should they lose though, the wind will go out of the sails of any Club dreaming of breaking the Old Firm cartel.

Celtic have benefitted from important controversial decisions in their last 3 games, and were also awarded a ludicrous penalty winner in 90+6 when they played Kilmarnock earlier. If/when they win the title it will make Scottish football even more of a laughing stock than it already is.

Scottish football needs Hearts to win this season.
It is an opportunity to revive interest as well as make history.

Had Hearts faded recently, lost a number of games, then that would be understandable. Just one of those things.
But they haven't. And if they are robbed of the Title by VAR calls it will be a travesty, and a further injury to the beleaguered SPL.
Many believe that Rangers & Celtic have so many advantages that their grip is absolute.
I'm hoping against hope that it can be defied.

The Scottish refs are scared of Celtic fans. The ref who gave the non-penalty in their last game, which has handed them the title, gave a decision against them a couple of seasons ago and they made his life very uncomfortable for a while afterwards. You saw after today's game what they're like.

I’ve not watched an FA cup final for years but have to say I couldn’t have given less of an interest in this years final if I’d of tried

The two Clubs that have unlimited spending power and are above the rules other Clubs have to obey.
I don't think any neutral fans who love football gave a rat's arse who won that game.

The last FA Cup Final I watched was Arsenal v Hull, at Wembley. I haven't bothered since, much like the FA and Premier League clubs aren't that much bothered about it. :emoticon-0138-think

I Have a deep abiding hatred of Chelsea and was happy to see them lose. I happened to switch it on just as Citeh scored. I don't celebrate Citeh winning, just Chelsea losing.

I remember when the whole of Saturday was taken up by the FA Cup final on the box. Mornings were interviews, meeting the team at their hotel, pundits etc etc with a slow build up to kick off at 3.

Nowadays, like most on here, I couldn’t give a crap who is in it and much less who wins it.

Last final I remember clearly was West Ham v Fulham and that was probably 45 years ago ?

Alan Taylor scored two goals in the final, semi final and quarter final for the ‘ammers.

Leicester beating Chelsea was good, especially when VAR ruled out a perfectly good Chelsea goal. <applause>.
