That big old terrace with the concrete barriers looks like St James Park ?
Not sure but the row of houses in the side (quite a few like that) and the position of what I think is the river makes me wonder if its Leicester. Cooling towers I'm not sure help much as there's quite a few stadiums which had them around them back in the day I think.
It's the road and further stadium in the background which I think are Welford Road but I can't see the university in the background (which would be there...)

I went there around 1987. Both ends were uncovered back then, but I remember those massive concrete crush barriers.
We used to go to away games in my mate's Renault 5. He was a big lad too. 5 of us crammed into this little car, me sitting in the back with my knees in my chest for 8 hours up the motorway
