Oh I agree....but not at our club though....as I said I cannot think of any other publicly demanding a transfer at our club ....Can You?
What do you mean not at our club? Fonte never went public with it, it was leaked to the press by his agent, then Reed confirmed it. Plenty of players/agents have done this.
It is true we have had want away players, but the point is, normally we do not have anyone that actually puts in a transfer request officially as Fonte did. That is a rare event for any club. No matter who leaks the request, it was an official request in writing. that is the rarity.......
Because if they do, they don't get their loyalty bonus. It's why Fonte actually did a good thing, despite leaving.

Yep. I remember Lowe pretty much publicly thanked Bridge for doing it when he left.
Still doesn't realise asking to leave will count as a transfer request - doesn't have to be in writing!

So he came back from the Euros aware big offers would come in, that didn't materialise. A big offer came in January and he left. End of story.

I honestly don't care any longer.
As with all that have contributed but have left, I thank them for what they did while they were here, good luck for the future, we all must move on.
He did though. He also recieved a new contract, but denies that as well. Fonte needs to move on and stop twisting words.
One thing I will say is. Only guilty people can't let stuff go and have to go over the same stuff over and over again.

Just a shame he wasn't there to lead us out at Wembley. Not because the result would have been any different - it's just sad that he wasn't there.

I think it's the best decision all round with a bit of hindsight. I think this experience for Stephens will be invaluable, and he has looked very good so far since coming in.
