Nope. We will get far less than his value to the team. I'll say £6m. Heard someone say £20m for him, which is ridiculous.

Thanks for your service, but if he's behind the unrest in the dressing room then I cant say I'll be too sad to see him go. Great player still at his age but certainly replaceable. I think he's been stropping since the summer, and has used a 'fall out' with Puel to cover himself.

Can't see a recovery from this, and he needs to be sold. But, we can't realistically go into the rest of the season with just Yoshi and VVD as CBs and therefore we MUST now prioritise buying a CB.

Possible, he has time left on his contract, we dont have to sell - the way I see it is we are in the driving seat.

Well, I can see £8-12m, hence my hedging at £10m.

I wouldnt be surprised if Liverpool were interested...only because he is a good defender and played well with Louvren.

Well can't say Im shocked! Honestly thought better of him, but guess I should of seen that coming. Strip him of his captaincy now for sure, regardless of the outcome.

He wouldn't have handed in a transfer request unless an offer had been made and turned down. We must have turned an offer down in the summer as well...otherwise, why the strop. We've had the best of him, so no point in holding on IF we have a replacement or are happy with what we've got. He has done well for so, although sad that it came to this, I'm not going to forget those years...be horrible if the boo boys come out. He wants a move at the end of his career....perhaps with a view to a coaching role later. Bye, Jose.

I love Yoshi seems a nice guy but if he's going to be our CB until the end of the season I can already see his mistakes costing us goals.

Agree with this... sneaky is what others have done and to try to force their way out of the club but stop short of an official request so not to lose 'loyalty' bonus <doh>

Also to clarify the contract situation luv, he was offerred a payrise BUT no extension, which is what I believe the issue is <ok>

According to Adam Blackmore there will be other information tomorrow. Seems like Les Reed is about to say his **** to the media again. He'd better have a contract extension or signing to talk about. If he says the club has no need to sell Van Dijk then he'll be off as well.

We have Matip who is class and Klavan as cover plus a youngster if we really are desperate, we wont be in for him. Which is a nice change.

Highly doubt anyone would be daft enough to pay the supposed £15m that we are after. He really isn't worth that much at this stage in his career, he has already began his natural decline.
Only place that money would come from is, as someone jokingly suggested, China. But the Chinese tend to prefer attacking players when purchasing from abroad as they are only allowed a select few foreign players.

This, even if we refuse it (which I think we should) surely he can't keep the captaincy for the rest of the season?

Can't see why a 33 year old would want an extension, seems odd?

Lets pray for some chinese millions. Can't say i'm too fussed, he's forward enough to request a transfer so you can't compare him to the likes of Lallana. He wants to move on and is going about it the right way imo.

Fair point, forgot about Klavan, and you paid off the Cameroon government enough CAF to finally not select Matip :emoticon-0112-wonde :emoticon-0105-wink:

Ah well, time to change my signature again....:(

Good luck Jose and thanks for the good times, we wouldn't be where we we are now without the likes of you, SRL, Adam and SKD.
This is not much different to Rickie leaving IMO and in a way, I don't want to see him deteriorate here at Saints, better to remember him as a great Saints player.
