Didn't know this was a cover
,

What? Heresy. <laugh>Written and originally done by my favourite male singer and second track on Otis Blue, one of the best albums of all time and still one I still play a lot 58 years later.

Was surprised some time later to find out that this, one of my Merseybeats favourites, was a cover of a James Brown original.

Of course there has to be some Sam Cooke on any FNMT. And this cover, in my opinion, surpasses even the already brilliant Nat King Cole one.

Love that version, far better than the original in my opinion. There again you could play any of Eva’s songs as she never wrote her own stuff and the overwhelming majority of them are better than the original.

They asked The Chantels singer what she thought of Janis Joplin’s cover of Maybe. She replied “ Cover? I didn’t realise it was the same song.”. She had a point although Janis always credited the Chantels for it.<laugh>

Still love this song. Them were miffed when their record company put out a version by Lulu first, which duly flopped. Jimmy Page on this, though on rhythm guitar not lead, and Andy White who replace Ringo Starr on drums for Love Me Do on backing vocals.
