Sunderland have a £14mil bid accepted for Wolves striker Steven Fletcher. This is daylight robbery. #SAFC #WWFC

Read this twice now. Mixed feelings. Fook, 14M is quite a lot. Wolves did well if true.

IF this proves to have legs we have been royally mugged by Moxey.. And I'll question some of my earlier posts about what a good business team we've got

Fair play to Wolves, we should have done exactly the same in their position.

Shame on the Sunderland negotiating team.

We ripped the bindippers off for Hendo.

We have deffo bottled it if this is true.
Surely we had more than one striker targeted ffs. Game of bluff and Wolves won. Thats a massive chunk of money for, imo a good player, but not worth that amount. I would however love to see him prove me wrong

We didnt with Bent or Gyan.

If it is true then i will be happy (not with the price but thats not my department) that we have signed a good CF which we desperately needed

Carroll £35m
Henderson £20m
Bent £24m
Van persie £20m + £220k pw
Torres £50m

Guranteed 15 + goals £14m fletcher i think when u look at it like this its an ok deal imo and obviously who martin wants

Effectively, baesed on previous seasons, we are paying £1million per goal.

Sounds extreme don't it.

He will get goals though, no question.

Because of the fee paid, 10 goals a season will not cut it anymore.

For a team like us to spend that sort of money, he will need to be scoring close to the 20 goal a season mark to justify the money spent.

Apart from the obvious, paying over the odds comes back to bite you in the arse in many ways, mainly re-sale value. Unless something out of the ordinary happens and he turns into some sort of star, we are also going to lose a good few million when it is time to move him on as well.

Far from guaranteed mate, he's never scored 15 goals a season in his life. Not even in the SPL.

Don't know what you are trying to prove with that list because you could build a case why the bottom 3 are worth what was paid for them, not what you would call 'paying over the odds'

You also say guaranteed 15+ goals a season? Where do you get that from, how many times has he scored 15+ in his career? I don't think he has ever done it.

With the service we should provide, bearing in mind we scored only 2 headers all season and one of those was from wes, i think i'd put money on it tbh, plus if this deal is in fact done, then we should expect his other targets to start to follow

I suppose i'm trying to put the current market into perspective, m'on must see him in his vision for the future
