With the fixtures to be released on Friday the 21st of August what's everyone's predictions? As per every year there's already been a supposed leak of opening fixtures with us said to be away to Chelsea. So let's have your guesses on who we get first, last and boxing day for a bit of fun. I'm going West brom opening game, Palace on boxing day and Everton last game of the season.
 
First game - Man City (a) - POSTPONED due to City's CL involvement

New first game - Man Utd (h) - POSTPONED due to Utd's Europa involvement

New first game - Leicester City (a) - POSTPONED after Jamie Vardy gets Covid-19

New first game - Fulham (h) - Lose 0-1 (H Reed 90 minute goal)



Boxing Day - Newcastle (a) - POSTPONED due to snow


Final game - Arsenal - POSTPONED due to Saints' FA Cup Final involvement

New Final game - any of the above postponed ones







On a serious note, it may not be us but I suspect at least one 'small' (non top 6) team will get shafted by Man City and Man Utd's early games being rearranged and have a ridiculously congested schedule compared to their rivals later in the season

It would be nice to play the promoted team that takes the longest time to settle, in the first few matches, then meet the one who got off to a flyer when the wheels have come off, instead of the other way around.
 
On a linked topic, do you think that there will be any fans for any of our matches, for the foreseeable future? I'm aware of fans being allowed into grounds for top-level rugby union games in NZ, but there seems to be remarkably few sporting events with any spectators. I believe that they allowed some spectators into watch the snooker, but that isn't likely to result in people hugging each other when another red gets potted.

I've heard rumours of 20% to 50% attendance being allowed, with priority given to STHs, no away fans, and marshalled entrances and exits. Are we (ever) likely to get a genuine atmosphere at any home (or away) game? Throw in the lower league grounds where terraces still exist for standing, and the requirement to Social Distance becomes impossible to police.

TBH, it did Saints no harm to play in empty stadia, so we might do very well, but we won't see anything, 'live', and the only singing will be in my head.

I noticed there were fans at the World Snooker Final yesterday. Not sure how that worked.

I suspect that the authorities were quite reasonably assuming that the (fairly few) spectators at the World Snooker Final wouldn't all kick off if any contentious decisions were made. The spectators were placed several seats apart from each other, and the large banner down the centre of one end kept the rival fans apart. Or was I dreaming that bit?

Dunno, think you might have dreamed the last bit. Apparently they allowed 300 fans into the Crucible, not sure how many it holds.

I renewed my ST, I’m sort of expecting a ballot system for ST holders when the season starts, maybe letting 30% or so in per game? Don’t think we’ll be seeing any full grounds this year. Relying on the club to do right by all it’s supporters, as best it can in the circumstances.

Likewise. I've renewed Season Ticket, but I realy doubt that there will be many opportunities to actually see Saints 'live' at St Marys. To be honest, watching a match without banter isn't going to be the same. Maybe the club could provide loud hailers, and ear trumpets, so that witty asides can be shared. Or something.

Not sure I've ever had such a lack of enthusiasm for a fixture release before.

Just hoping at least one of (preferably both) Leeds & Sheffield United away is March onwards.
