Can someone, Speakman or Johnson, come out and say what's going on? We are dreadfully short of numbers.

If they did, all they'd say is it's under control and we have our processes in place and they're confident a few will arrive soon. And that we don't want to rush into signing the wrong players and we need to wait for agents to come back from holiday etc etc

Really?! <laugh> You’re easily pleased.

MacGillivray who’s just signed for Charlton is a better GK than Burge, without doubt. Ben Amos too.
No I’m talking about statistics. The saves he made, gained us more points. Factually. Not opinion. Fact. They also won us a cup. Factually.

“Without doubt “ you say… Didn’t macgillvray play in a team who conceded more and finished lower than Sunderland last season? But obviously he’s a better keeper than Burge! Not sure how?

not saying I’d be disappointed if we signed a keeper, just think we need other positions first. Midfield was way short of goals

I’m amazed that the bookies have us as joint favourites, even if we sign 10 players it’s going to take a canny while to gel.

We need to fill in the blanks before we look at replacing a keeper who is more than good enough at this level.

Question? Watched the majority of games and can't remember many keepers coming for crosses is this just me or are keepers now told to hold the goal line and let the defence deal with the cross, hence why Burge waits back?
I can't see that being coached to keepers. At a very young age they are taught to come for crosses, so that would go against their natural instincts to come for the ball.
Defenders like a strong willed keeper behind them who can take the pressure off.

‘The people’s champ‘ O’Nien needs to get a move on and make his mind up. Disgraceful the way we’ve allowed him to drag his heels which has refrained us from signing a replacement. I hope the club have already started looking for other options.

He's not my 'champ' at all, if he wants to play here he should have signed up already, the fact he's hanging on for a better offer is fine ( he's got to look after himself) but if we can spend his wages and get someone in NOW we should, and **** him off for dragging his heels. None of last season's squad are irreplaceable, we need to move on.

Agreed. With being able to use their hands, lead with their knee and with the extra protection given to keepers, your keeper has always got to be favourite to get to any cross and has less chance of giving away a corner, a penalty or an own goal.
