It was nice, but it was still a friendly. (with Liverpool playing a full 1st team)

The real stuff starts on the 16th, so winning all the friendlies was good for moral, and Liverpool who just cant buy any siverware will go into the new season with tail between their legs.

<laugh>

These players were missing from the starting line-up...

GK
Flanno - CB - Lovren - Enrique
CM - Can - Lallana
RW - Studge - Markovic

...all of them have a shout of being in the strongest eleven :)

So much for the match not meaning anything too <laugh>

The point regarding Ibe is:

Janujiz is a promising young player- but not really a first team player... or at least shouldn't be... so the comments regarding saying him not starting would be akin to us saying Ibe not starting... both young promising players who will be first team material one day- but neither is at that stage yet.

From what I've seen as Janu- he's about the same level as what I've seen of Ibe. Very promising player- not putting Janu down.

BTW- think Ibe is better than Sterling was two years ago he's more akin to Sterling at the start of last season- and has potential to be better than Sterling. He needs to learn to look up and pick out a pass though. Currently he tries to do too much by himself... probably from being the standout player in the youth he tries to do too much by himself... he is more than capable of taking on three people at once... but then he gets himself trapped in so he can't pass.

The point about Janujaz is his age. United have a policy of slowly blending youngsters in, same applied to Giggs, Beckham Scoles Butt etc etc. SAF always claimed that too many games for developing young players cause far too many long term injury problems.

You only have to look at Micheal Owen, burnt out through being over played at too young an age

Well thats debateable, must admit not seen much of Januzaj but Ibe does look very very good for now, extremely direct and like a greyhound

Januzaj has all gone a bit quiet around him hasnt it?

P.S I am not saying Ibe is better btw

Being uber pedantic, not it's not really debatable.

Januzaj has played plenty first team games for United in the premier league and has just played in a side at the World Cup finals in a side that reached the 1/4 final.

Ibe well, Ibe has done none of those things. You're basing him being 'at the same level' on an assumption (hope) that he will get there.

I heard similar about Pacheco. Care to remind me of where he is?

He's left, sorry to have to tell you but dont shoot the messenger <whistle>

If they're good enough they're old enough

As of now januzaj is a first teamer. And to suggest stalwarts like rafa and carrick are not?? Lol.

We played half our best side and player most of it in new positions. We beat the premier league runners up elect.

Shame about him (Pacheco)

Did Januzaj even make 1 appearance for Belgium at the finals?

Yeh he played. Not bad considering the quality they have and the fact he was nowhere 12 months ago.

So predictable for the RS fans to clamour that 1) their team was not at full strength compared to a full strength United side and 2) that it was a totally meaningless fixture that they couldn't care losing.

The prematch excitement and hype had suddenly never existed..."the biggest club match in the world" has never been mentioned by Brenda <laugh>

As LVG quite rightly said (with typical understatement), the RS are not our favourite opponents. It is better to win than to lose. And no doubt that the RS wanted to win...desperately <wah>

Ibe is the next Zidane.

Well that proves a point DR. If he was a well known player with amazing skills I would have known how to spell his name.

I assume he's another member of the Anfield Dross club. He can't be anything special, you didn't even know

Totally different types of player, Ibe is more the next Ronaldo (the fake one that used to be on your books until Fergie, did sell them a virus) <ok>

Ibe is the next Ronaldo. Guaranteed. Cheyrou was the next Zidane. Pongolle was the next Ronaldinho. Sterling is the next Messiah.
