Listen they can stand in, it isn't only his goals his set ups his dead balls and yes maybe he did score a few free kicks, but who else would. I am happy with either fer or Ki to stand in for him if injured, but to go into a season without replacing him would be suicide in my opinion, we would need to sign a recognised 10. as bad as I would be without a no. 9
...and my point is that you seem content with Fer replacing Siggy if he goes. All about opinions but I don't agree. He's on a completely different level imo.
I love Siggy and respect him immensely , but he ain't the only player I respect as a player on the team . Ki is one , scored more than Siggy in less games season before last . Fer is another , scored 6 goals in 18 goals in the 10 position for QPR and would have no problem playing him there all season if Siggy left ,. Scored a beauty last pre season game from the 10 position . Now most will have a go at Ki from last season , but look at Siggy last season for the first half the season mostly under Monk , 2 goals in his first 19 games ( 1 was a penalty). But you didn't hear much complaining about Siggy , a bit of a double standard IMO. And the 2nd half the season Ki got a concussion and a lot of people want to ditch him. I'd have no problem starting Ki or Fer anywhere in the midfield , especially if Siggy flys the coup. And that's my opinion
I wasn''t talking about Ki. He's a player that was 'forgotten' but made a good finish to the season. Fer has done reasonably well, no more than that imo. Pre-season his goal was excellent but was against pretty poor opposition. A quick look at his stats tells me 8 goals in 48 appearances for them. Ok but not that great really. Two of his goals for QPR were in the Championship. I do like Fer and I'm not knocking him. I'm actually glad we signed him as he gives us a bit of muscle in midfield, but would I be happy with him stepping in to replace Siggy? Not even close. We need to keep him at all costs.
2014- 2015 season , when QPR were in the Premier League ( all season ) Fer scored 6 goals in his last 18 appearences as an attacking midfielder..a third of their goals in those 18 Appearences
Fer is good to have in the team, but we really need to keep Siggy and Ayew and bring in 2 strikers to give us attacking options. If we lose either of those 2 then we need to bring in another like player. When you put a price on a player it's not just on him, but how much his replacement would be. I think at least £25m for each of them is a fair price.
Fer is a lot better than most think and the prove is coming soon . Same as Ki . By the time Christmas hits , most will be saying " Joe Who " . Cork , Ki and Siggy for me . If Siggy goes , Cork , Ki and Fer .....pudding time is coming . 4.5. for Fer was a steal .....
Many players hit a purple patch. What did he do for the other 30 appearances? He scored 2. Like I said, I'm glad we signed him but he's just not as good as Siggy in bagging goals at this level.
Got use to a new team , I presume ( he only started 9 other games besides the 18 in the Premier ) .Even Bony took a bit of time if I'm not mistaken . Bony got 2 goals in his first 9 games , I think Paloschi did better than that The season before in the Premier , Fer had a stretch of 4 straight games as MOTM at Norwich ... and they weren't his only MOTM for them . Some players don't play well unless they are in the top leagues , I believe Fer is one of those players .
Well I guess we'll see. I hope you're right because he has much to offer. He's well overdue fulfilling his potential imo.
Fer played fantastic for QPR and Norwich in the Premier and played his part for us last season . He's not overdue for potential imo , he just has so much more to offer I believe .4.5 miliion....roofer's pretty happy
I have mixed feeling regarding Fer, I think he gets blasé in games, he does give us some physical presence, but now that he has a contract, I hope he doesn't disappear in games, no where near the level of Siggy...........
The way I see it, Fer is the replacement for Shelvey with around £10M in the bank. He can be used as an attacking midfielder but if we sell Siggy I think Ayew will slot into that position (if we get a first team striker)
Also I want to add how frustrated I am with the club! We're an established premier league club with no senior striker, 2 weeks or so before we kick off the new season. How shocking is that! With all the dividends at stake from being in the premiership surely, Investing in a decent striker is top priority.
Fer is a talent but so frustrating at times, he can go missing a lot, scored a couple of cracking goals but not the player to depend on in scrap although he is use to relegation. I wasn't sad to see him leave
Can I ask has he always looked like he needs to lose 2 stone, just wonder whether when he left you was he a bit overweight or is that his natural size and did you ever get a full game out of him, he seems to run out of steam completely at 60-65 mins.
He's a big lad, not always uses his strength, rather than not being fit, he seemed to lose interest in a game. I'd say he wasn't the total footballer Dutch players have the rep for, more a useful squad man, not quite what you would expect from Swansea players. Perhaps like Shelvey, had the promise but not fulfilled. Good luck next season
