for ages now my sons been asking if he can come to city with me, as he's only 4 I've not taken him because he hates been cold and I'm not sure how long he'd last before getting bored.
Anyway I've just told him I've got him a ticket for Saturday.... Happy as Larry he's just trotted off up to bed shouting "steee buce"

If anyone see's a little boy wondering round the concourse with his dad at 3:15 he's got bored :)

One of my earliest memories is been taken to City when I was about your lads age.

I got bored.

Wandered off and got through the gate that led down to The Well (at Fer Ark obvs).

Can still remember my Old Man yelling at me to 'Get back 'ere!'


He then refused to take me again for another 3 years apparently.

I don't know how you lot can remember these things? I've mentioned before that I can't even remember who my first game was against! im blaming Ibiza in the 90s! my memory is shot! <cheers>

My first game was 19th April 1986, so 30 years and 2 days ago!!!!
We drew 1-1 with Charlton Athletic, I was stood in South stand, I will have been 12 years old.
My father or elder brother aren't really into footy, so I went under my own steam as everyone did in them days with my mates.
We went in front via Billy Askew and Charlton equalised near the end.
Twas an early lesson, we should have gone for the second goal, bloody negative Bruce, oh sorry Steve cant blame you for that game I suppose.

Geo > smuggle your own refreshments in, don't pay their rip off prices.
Small children are good mules, especially for things like hip flasks.
 
The first time I took junior he wanted to leave at half time (I think he was five).

Only once though, a few weeks later he asked if he could come again and he's been going ever since.

I can remember the matches until about the age of 16 ish, then it was the offy before the games lol.
I can remember one mate cutting his mouth open, pissing with blood on a broken bottle of Diamond White we bought from offy, then remembered no one had a bottle opener. We used the grid on an open drain on Anlaby road which took the cap off alright and about two inches of the bottle.
Ahhhhh. the good old days.

I thought I'd get him one of those hot dogs to keep him entertained till half time then a chocolate bar for the second half

I have took my Grandson a few time, you spend most of your time taking them to the toilet. Having said that, usually City score when this happen's.:emoticon-0136-giggl

I can barely remember the last game I saw let alone the first.
 
First game i took the juniors to City scored.....everyone jumped up to celebrate and they stayed sat down.

Of course they know all the songs now and stand up all the game.

We will be singing standing and jumping up and down still at away games next season.
 
My Dad was always very reluctant to take me to matches when I was growing up in the 1980s - maybe understandably due to the troubles that were still persistent at the time. Hence I never went to my first City game till I was aged 11 in 1987. 0-0 v Bradford City. Alex Dyer was my favourite player that day.
 
What's the youngest age you've started taking your kids?

I'm itching to take my daughter, but two months might be a bit young...

Hopefully when she start's going it'll be a new owner, new era and she won't ever know the negative atmosphe the current regime continue to propagate.
 
I was taken just before my 8th birthday for the first game at Boothferry Park following WW2. Mum had knitted me some tiger striped gloves, dad had painted a striped rattle and my granddad had bought me a new City scarf. Completely confused when they ran out in Blue and White!

Was so crammed in on the rails behind the goal on Bunkers Hill that I was unable to swing the rattle once during the match. Never took it again.

I recently found the programme from my first game in 1990 against west ham, I was 7 and for some reason id drawn a penguin on the front in felt tip, not sure what message that gives, probably that I was just a weird little twat.

hope he enjoys it tho, good to see some genuine enthusiasm..
we go with my nephew and its quite refreshing to see his attitude sometimes, he celebrates every goal like its the best hes ever seen, and when we lose it upsets him, but he never starts blaming this player or that player, hes just upset his team lost.

I turn up to most games already full of hatred after reading this forum and twitter all day , then when we score half the time just think, oh its only because there defender was ****... <laugh>
