I queried the kickoff time of the recent England match against Eire (half five on a Satdee if I recall) and someone replied with a reason that kinda made sense (don't recall what it was though - summut to do with the IRA mebee?)

Anyhoose, 5 o'clock on a Sunday?

What's a good reason for that?

In more ways than one

Sauna life please

Then again

Greece v ireland is at 9.45pm local time on a sunday
So it all makes no sense

Looking forward to reading a few gags about not understanding what this competition is again.

They don’t shut down early there like we do. People would be leaving the game started here.
There are games in Spain with 10pm kick offs

I think one of the previous Champions League finals started circa 11pm local time

They regularly have 9.00pm kick-offs on a Saturday and Sunday, so they can televise four games a day. They occasionally have 10.00 and 11.00pm kick-offs, which the fans hate, they’ve been protesting by all turning up in pyjamas.

I know a lad who spent time each year in Valencia where his daughter lives. One Cup game which was level at full time ended up with them getting out of the ground well gone 1am. He wasn’t bothered as he wasn’t working so he went for a late night out. Doesn’t seem to bother the Spanish or they have stronger constitutions than us as everywhere was busy.

Went to a 9pm kick off at Atletico once and was a nightmare trying to get public transport back. Walked about half an hour then got a taxi to the hotel in the end

Didn't know Bransholme had a football stadium. :emoticon-0138-think

Or is it because they all slope off for 3 hours Kip during the day?

But yeah, I agree the Spanish are a lot tougher than us Brits. I mean just look at how they performed in the World Wars or how they backed the coalition forces in Afghanistan and Iraq.

**** me, they’re just above the Irish and on par with the Italians when it comes to being a nation you can rely on when it goes south.

Got to give them credit for being able to watch a late game of football though.

Having a tougher constitution doesn’t mean being a tough guy, My wife has a tougher constitution than you or me but I would be confident either of us would beat her in a scrap, all 5’ of her. Spaniards don’t all slope off for 3 hours kip. Another misconception. They stay out later than us as a general rule not just football.
