The last football game(s) that impressed me

ISS Pro / Pro Evolution Soccer 2

The first football game where you felt like it was off the telly, realistic. And by jove when i conceded the first goal and realised the nets moved!!!

The next gen stuff is mind blowing, interactive crowds, changeable weather, pitch wear. Crazy how they’ve developed.

Fell out of love with football games. I remember the period when fifa overtook pro evo, so i bought it, couldnt get away with it. Put me off footy games for years.
Didnt get another till Fifa 18 (got it free with my xbox). Was impressed by the obvious improvements but lacked something. I thought that there would have been a more in depth career mode. Apparently its not worth getting the latest ones cos they tweak the things that dont need tweaking and ignore the obvious things that they can improve upon (career mode). So I'm not getting conned. Playing Witcher 3 at the minute (something like £3.99 on xbox live). Lovely. I prefer the long exploring games. Fallout, Witcher etc. You get your moneys worth. Plan on buying Red Dead Redemption pretty soon. As you can tell I'm a few years behind.

They have done a massive change on career mode this year, you can go on EA Play and get a 10 hour trial for £3.99, and weigh up if it’s enough.

Added youth development and such, massively improved the transfer market etc, done a really good job, not like EA at all!

The fifa I got they just seem to polish it with nonsense. A bloke I had got player of the month.....nice photo of him collecting the award....he'd been injured for months. This would happen often. I think **** like that sort of sums the previous career mode up. Like EA couldnt give a ****. Half arsed ideas that look good but end up looking stupid. 'Thats ****, thats ok, we'll keep it in'

Yeah there’s been a lot of improvement, it’s still not like a full manager game of course but it’s a huge leap forward this year, I had a mess about on it as full game wasn’t available until today but I can see me losing hours on end on it this year, a lot more depth.

Loved speedball 2 and champ man as a kid. My first computer was a spectrum 48k - playing dizzy and the like. My best game was target renegade. Class game that!

then moved onto consoles with the NES,SNES and then playstations.

honorable mention to the Dreamcast and Nintendo wii.

just bought my daughter a switch for christmas. I don’t know who is more excited me or her!!

The first computer I ever used was at school in 1973, third year pupils and above were given lessons in computer programming. The computer half filled a classroom and it printed out a series of dots on a green paper tape. I seem to remember the tape had up to 3 dots on the left of the tape and 2 dots on the right side. Our efforts at programming were sent off to the Town Hall and were printed out on reams of paper which we were marked on.

I managed to find a picture of the computer room which was taken in 1966, the computer was a Ferranti Pegasus.

Those awful Apple watches people wear nowadays are probably a 1,000 times more powerful than that whole room of valve driven electronics but at the time we were fascinated by this thing, this was Tomorrows World stuff, they had computers on Star Trek man.

Unfathomably, I have enjoyed reading this thread while at the same time understanding less of it than I would an ancient Hebrew text.

All another world to me! As for GG and C19, keep going lads, you put me to shame, twisting on about a bit of gout!

You must be a few years older than me mate
We had one of these at our school - a lot better than the tech at Uni

I got into gaming on my mates Apple II - playing apple panic, it was very addictive.
If only he had kept that computer - it's probably worth a fortune these days <doh>

I have had a good play around on it today, got about 8 hours free play left, played a few on line games and got my arse well and truly kicked, the commentary was better and not as repetitive

Ah not been on yet today so they’ve done an update for full release? Good news that.

I’m leaving it until Friday cos I’m stowed off at work and I tend to sit till 3am without realising <laugh>

Ideal. I might have a little look in the morning while I’m on the zoom call I never listen to <laugh>

I’ll only need to do the updates takes about 5 seconds here as I have 1000mbps broadband. Bonus.

You can play Fifa now by changing your console time zone to New Zealand if you didn’t pay for the early access.
