Didn't Rooney sign for us after the Euros when he was already a big part of the England set up ? Hardly a Everton fringe player really.

International football is below PL and CL football, has been for well over a decade.

Rio excelled in the highest forms of the game week in week out. Even now he has more ability than any defender in england, hes miles above them as footballers but as a defender hes not the player he was. Still, hes one of the best around still.

At his peak there was nobody better, not vidic*, not kompany, not nesta not puyol not anybody.

* Rio due to his football ability and defensive abilities just pips vidic if compared at their very best. Just!

I suppose most players in the world agreeing with me is delusion aswell.

Delusion is thinking John Terry is a great defender, thinking chelsea are the 3rd best in europe when they are the 6th best in england and thinking players go to you for anything other than money.

The very definition of delusion and you lot call scousers deluded <ok>

The great thing about opinions is everyone can have one. Mine and many others is that Rio was never the best defender in the world. His frankly average turn outs for England prove that as opposed to World Cup and European Champion Desailly.

Average for england? Carried JT for years and was one of englands best players in every tournament he played in. So no, let down by his average team mates I think you will find.

I'm having a bit of trouble with. I know it's your opinion and I accept that, but damn Nesta,Puyol, LUCIO, don't know man. For me Lucio has been top top class in the past Generation with Nesta probably right there behind him. I know these two and Rio have won tons of medals but for me Lucio did it at all levels and in every single league he played in.

Again, some will say Lucio was a thug or this and that and not agree but, that's ok UIR, it's ok. <ok>

It was his first stint with the England set up so he hadn't 'established' himslef but why let the truth get in the way of a good story eh KE...He had started to break through to Everton's first team and was therefore thought a good gamble for the Euro's which luckily paid off. But let's look at UIR's previous statement...International football comes below PL and CL so by his reckoning, you made a big ****in gamble taking an 18 year old for £30million!

This is based on an arguement put forward by you guys and as you can see, your arguement falls well short!

I don't think it was a gamble at all. We didn't buy him for his potential as he was already playing at a high level and playing well at that level.

It's all about opinions but I have spoke to very few people who thought the Rooney signing was a gamble.
