Just to pick up on the Rooney point and throw some maths into the mix for UIR's benefit, here's what £25.6m would be worth in 2011:
Meaning that, in 2012, factoring in another 3.3% inflation, Rooney would cost £33.9m.
But I suppose £33.9m and £35.5m are miles apart, aren't they, UIR? I may as well be comparing £1m to £1bn, hadn't I?
(The last line was sarcastic, by the way.)
