I wonder...

Have there been any famously 'camp' showbiz stars who have come out after decades and admitted they are straight?
I mean people who kind of built their whole career around an apparently gay persona.

Larry Grayson and John Inman.

I preferred 'Power in the darkness' myself, particularly that plummy talking bit in the middle.

:emoticon-0159-music "...freedom from the reds and the ***** and the criminals
Prostitutes, pansies and punks
Football hooligans, juvenile delinquents
Lesbians and left wing scum..."

Never heard it. My favourite lyrics are "In Amongst the Roses" by the Strawbs.

It's a parody of a 'tory grandee' type, making a speech about British values, which starts towards the end of the track.
It starts out as a reasonable sounding monologue, in an upper-class English tone, but as it goes on it becomes increasingly hysterical (Fuhrer style).

Here's the full text (of the spoken parody part of the song)

"Today, institutions fundamental to the British system of Government are under attack.
the Public schools, the House of Lords, the Church of England, the holy institution of Marriage,
even our magnificent Police force are no longer safe from those who would undermine our society,
and it's about time we said 'enough is enough'
and saw a return to the traditional British values of discipline, obedience, morality and freedom.

Freedom from the reds and the b*****s and the criminals.
Prostitutes, pansies and punks.
Football hooligans, juvenile delinquents,
Lesbians and left wing scum.

Freedom from the N*****s and the P***s and the Unions,
Freedom from the Gypsies and the Jews,
Freedom from long haired layabouts of students,
Freedom from the likes of you!!"

Decent protests song all in all

I liked 'War Baby' as well (1983) another excellent song.
