Fed up.

You are the newbies to the premiership and its a culture shock how the premiership is a few steps up from championship football and the odds of staying up are slim to say the least...You will win at some point as every team does and its whether you can get at least 40 ish or there about to stay up and that usually includes beating one or two of the big guns....Its a tall order and dont happen every season where the three promoted sides stay up and qpr were very lucky last season.....to be honest having watched both saints and reading i cant choose who are the worst but with only 38 games a season then you cant hang around you must get every point you can and i cant see where saints and reading will get enough points this season not to be favorites for relegation.... you wont be on your own as many before you had the same problem......the first target is to get more than derby did in their short stay in the premiership....good luck...
 
Coming back to the point about plastic fans, it is also one of my pet hates. Personally I went to the ground pretty much every game until we were in League 1 but at this point I had to prioritise my money elsewhere and dropped down to three or four games a year. Shock horror one of the games I chose was the Wembley final. Funnily enough I don't really want to go back to going regularly now specifically because I don't want the stupid plastic moniker. If fans don't think we're good enough if we can only go sometimes then forget it.

Of course, the same fans will get angry that the stadium isn't full...

Oh, and I've been reading this since 606 (where I was an occasional contributor) but only now feel I HAVE to comment. Saints may not stay up this year, but those judging us after a tough four games (when we played admirably in two) are irritating beyond belief. They may be right. We might go down. But what a miserable way to live...

You talk as if Swansea are ther kings of football.. We have much more experience of top flight football and historically we are a much bigger team. Our team is far superior to that of Derby's. We have played much much tougher games than any other team, you would probably have only a maximum of 3 points anyway.
 
look where we we are today and where we finished last season and look where you are....Im not being patronizing im being honest...both saints and reading will struggle to find enough points to stay up this season.....A good start gives you a chance and even then its hard, just look at Blackpool the season before last to see what they did....the second half of the season is even harder than the beginning as the new teams have that unknown factor about them like we were and norwich were last season and apart from west ham then the results with reading and saints show that they have nothing special to offer and thats why everyone has the both teams to go back down and probably just after xmas will confirm it....
 
How can you write off any team that has lost to three of the top teams in the league? Seems odd. Clearly the unknown factor you speak of is so great it means you don't know what you are talking about...

Are you for real or what??? look at the table and especially the points total and you will see at the moment you are worse than derby....their points total is not hard to beat but with the amount of goals conceded then it could be a struggle to even beat them....40 points is the target ...will you get them, Im with the rest and say 20-30pts maximum and there will have to be a big improvement just to get that....

Not as hard as in our first season...Its the goals against is the telling factor that suggests you will find it hard...

The fans, who have been there since League One and not just the Premiership, don't want you.

The fans who don't moan because they have seen much, much, MUCH worse times, with A LOT worse chairmen, A LOT worse managers and A LOT worse players.

Well said Pope. I do feel that you are unfortunately preaching to a lot of the converted on here. I'll give the people on this forum the benefit of the doubt that of those who were also at the Emirates yesterday, they probably saved their moaning until the pubs and online forums. The negativity and knee jerk reactions you hear from those at the ground tend to come from the Saints Web or Facebook lot - those without an education who lack long term vision and maturity in their opinions.

Do I count as a proper supporter or some kind of inferior being? Because of where I live, and the job I do, I rarely get to see Saints 'live'. Probably I could count the games I have been to in the last 5 years on one hand, the last match I saw was at Rochdale. I seldom post on this forum although I visit it most days.

Yet I love the Saints, I have done for over 50 years. I listen for as much news of the club as I can, follow the players who are on twitter, and when we are live on tv nothing will stop me watching!! I am truly passionate about the Saints even though I may never get to one of the games again. Does this make me Plastic?

Would I be wrong in saying that we started slowly against both City and Utd. Maybe being defensive for the first 20/30 minutes before starting to play as we know we can. In both those matches we were not punished for it.
However against Arsenal we were we were three down in the first 30 minutes!!! That perhaps is our weakness.....now against Wigan we went after them from the off we had loads of chances and half chances. Trouble is we couldn't put them away...they had two and were clinical with them. It is clear most would agree that defensive mistakes cost us pretty dearly against the Manchester clubs. What I need to know is whether against Arsenal those same mistakes were made, or was it that they were as awesome as some are suggesting. Bearing in mind we actually score two of the six at our end. By all accounts Yoshida (is that his name) did well When he came on despite not ever having a chance to play with either of our central defenders before. If that is so then that is indeed a good omen.
 
...plus people forget that the Wigan keeper played very well, and was probably their best player. On another day we could have won that game, and a bit more concentration (and a bit less RVP!) would have beaten United and drawn with City and would be sitting on 7 points preening ourselves.

No mate it does not (see an earlier post).......there are hundreds like you if not thousands. Unfortunately plastics are so called for mainly people who do actually live fairly near to a ground or club that for no other reason cannot be bothered to actually go and see the club they constantly offer an opinion about. People like you that live a long way away like you and my brothers and Sisters (Australia) My Sons (America) who were Saints fans prior to going to live and work in the various countries and regions. A lot of the younger fans have yet to experience this although it is true that university chaps and chappeses are beginning to.
