Watched The Pianist last night. Set in Warsaw at the start of the Second World War. True story, very moving and harrowing at the same time. Well worth a watch.
That is an absolutely incredible film.

I'm not really into films, but that one looks interesting. I will give it a watch once I can get my missus away from the remoteAmerican made on Netflix is worth 2 hours of anyone's time. I'm glad stuff like this is getting made so people can see just what went on in dark rooms behind cigar smoke. And people still call people the tin hat brigade.

JFK Revisited: Through the Looking Glass
It is an Oliver Stone film about the assassination of President Kennedy and uses declassified files to question the Warren Commission’s findings.
It definitely changed my perspective of events surrounding the assassination.
Thanks for that, it sounds as though it's similar to JFK Revisited: Through the Looking Glass, I will need to look that up alsoTheres a great 4 parter on Sky Docs called "JFK, A destiny betrayed". They basically had 3 "Harvey Oswalds" in 3 different states ready with an identical military past. Doctors getting interviewed and physically laughing at the pathologists findings and autopsy reports from 63. Well worth a look, however I warn you you'll be angry watching it. Especially some of the stuff the government pre Kennedy had planned with Cuba to spark a war that JFK basically said "are you f**kin kidding me".
It’s funny isn’t I don’t watch true story stuff.Well worth it mate. My Dad isn't one for films but he'll watch based on true story stuff.

I'm like that Smug, for me to watch and enjoy a film it has to be sport, music or comedy based and/or based on true events.I'd agree with him.
I can't be bothered with nonsense films like James Bond that are totally far fetched and rely on GGI.
But films based on real events, real courage and real achievements intrigue me. As they say truth is often stranger than fiction.

I thought of you the other day, I binge watched Sherwood which is based on a true story that occurred around your neck of the woods and is about a couple of murders in which the investigation is hampered by the hatred from the miners strike still evident after 30 years, it's worth a watch
Very good watch Smug with some fantastic actors, but I did think how people from the area would respond to it.Like STID I couldn't watch it as the memories are too painful.
Shame as the trailers looked good.

I should imagine it's a double whammy with the murders and also with the deep rooted hatred that split families and friends
Exactly SmugThere were better ways to resolve matters mate.
Communities were destroyed and villages laid to waste.
There's blame on both sides but the wrongs of one don't excuse the other.

Bizarrely, Adam Sandler is filming round the corner from my sister's house today. She's raging as it caused a massive detour on her way to workFair enough. I've never seen a movie where he isn't doing that annoying squeaky nasally voice and making **** jokes. I'll give it a whirl
I always hated Jim Carrey until I watched Man in the Moon.
