Of course there are but I would say I know my stuff when it comes to films and I have never heard of them two. I read an interview with the writer of Chinatown who said that today it simply would not of been made and he's absolutely right and that's crazy considering the ****e that is greenlit.

Casablanca - Humphrey bogart at his best, and the script is superb
Shawshank redemption - makes you laugh and cry, and one of the most tense moments near the end when you fear for Red on his release!
Henry V - Lawrence Olivier version - Shakespeare at its finest
Looking for Eric - a quirky comedey about a manc postie who idolises cantona, and it also stars Eric himself
The Mission - Jeremy Irons, De Niro, Ray McAnally, and Liam Nielson at the absolute best! excellent script, and excellent score, with a very dramatic ending

Schindlers list. Again Liam Nielsen at his best, with a great performance from Ralph Fiennes.

Have to say that De Niro ISN'T one of my favourite actors, because you can see him acting. Especially in his earlier films, when he made his reputation. I suspect he acted better under great direction, because he wasn't half bad in The Godfather trilogy. Nowadays, he's not so bad at all. In a reverse way, Pacino was a brilliant actor in his younger days, but now he's Al Pacino all the time. I love ...and Justice For All, where he plays a young lawyer with a dying father [Lee Strasberg].
On the subject of brilliant actors, I always fly in the face of theatre actors like Laurence Olivier, because I thought he was pretty damn hopeless on film. Brilliant on the stage, I've no doubt [never saw him myself], but on the screen he seemed to overact like crazy, because the camera was getting too close in, and he couldn't minimise his presence for that scale. John Geilgud learned that lesson and became a fine screen actor. All just my opinion, of course.
Wooooooooahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Hold your horses there!
My favourite film is Good Will Hunting. I know it's not the best cinematography wise or even plot-wise, but it just has so much heart. Stunning film.
Robin Williams is incredible in it.
That's pretty near the top in my list too. In another mood it would have been. It actually made me realise what a fine actor Matt Damon could be too. Minnie Driver was never better either. What happened to her..?

Oh there's so many excellent ones.
I'd say one of my favourites is Slumdog Millionaire. The soundtrack is fantastic and the story is cleverly done and quite sweet, although it has some dark moments but still moments of humour. It has such a feel good ending as well.
Secondly, Hotel Rwanda. I wouldn't say I enjoy it, but it's an incredibly powerful and moving film especially as it's about a true event and a shameful episode in the UN's history.
Thirdly, The Back to the Future trilogy, very amusing but also very cleverly done and a lot of attention to detail and subtle references between the films.
Fourthly, Last of the Mohicans. A really good film with an amazing soundtrack. Quite graphic in places but the fight scenes are pretty epic and the climax of the film, which cumulates in a battle on the mountain side as the soundtrack reaches a crescendo is truly epic.

I was in Rio last, about 4 years ago, I picked up a free local paper and there was an article saying that, in battles with drug gangs in the Favelas, something like 40 police had been shot and injured or killed in 6 months!
Things have changed for the better, I think now.
Ah mate, nice one! Never heard of City of Men so gonna get a hold of it. Thanks. I used to be big into my World Cinema, but these days I just don't have a lot of time...
If you liked City of God, then I highly recommend Amores Perros (Mexican) and La Haine (French). Both gritty drama-types. Also, the films of Wong Kar-Wei (Hong Kong) are really good, all romance. And a special mention to Battle Royale (Japanese); Hunger Games completely ripped off this movie, and it pisses me off when certain films don't get the credit they deserve just because they're not Hollywood.
PS I've always got one eye on Brazil, I want to move there in the next year or so.
Seriously good film. My favourite Eastwood film is The Outlaw Josey Wales but I love all of his westerns.
However my favourite film of all time is probably True Romance.
