He actually isn't all that slow, once he gets moving he can't half chuffing shift, it just takes him awhile to get up to speed.

Though on a football pitch, specially in central midfield, 0-60 is far more worthy than top speed.
 
I think a few fans are a bit delusional if you think we matched them yesterday. We were absent of any threat at all, and despite playing some good football in the first half we didn't threaten there goal once! On another day mane would have made it 2-0 and pelle would have made it 3-0 just before the end. I'm a fan of huddlestone and Livermore but the basic fact is for the majority of yesterday's game they huffed and puffed around the pitch and very rarely influenced it, yesterday was crying out for someone to take the game by the scruff of the neck but too often tom isn't willing to do it, and don't start with the 'he's defensive midfield and isn't there to influence games' garbage because plenty of other players in that position are the go to player. Im not a team basher at all but sometimes people are so blinkered. Simple fact is we were poor in the final third from start to finish with very little threat but yesterday was a game you have to say was pretty much a one off poor performance from us

Yeah we were poor in the final third but so were they. They didn't take those two chances like Ben Arfa didn't take his. Without that silly mistake it would have been 0-0 and we'd have drawn meaning we matched them. We did match them. Just because our attack was toothless, doesn't mean our entire team played poor. We lost 1-0 and didn't play all too well against the form side and still 1-0. Take the positives out of that.

thats how i felt , but i reckon Southampton had enough to grab a winner at any point yesterday , As for Huddlestone , thought he did a decent job , a couple of misplaced passes but nothing to start a thread over -

against the better teams in the league he definitely gets found wanting at times , yesterday in first half diame was doing the work of about 5 men in the middle, no wonder he looked ****ed after about half an hour

You slate TH and tell us the problem was in the final third. Huddlestone wasn't in the final third...

I didn't slate TH and he is involved in the final third, he maybe defensive midfield but you try telling me Steven Gerard isn't involved in the final third and he plays same place as Tom. I think some peoples biggest gripe with him is sometimes like I said he doesn't influence a game enough, there is no denying he a classy player but I just wish he would be a bit more vocal on the pitch and take hold of the game. As has been said previously diame was everywhere yesterday and it sometimes feels like Livermore and huddlestone are happy to let him do that and not get involved. Just my opinion which I'm entitled to. But I will also agree and say there was no need for a thread to bash him as he doesn't warrant that but I just aired my opinion of what I wish he would do more of

Could well be the case, but I guess we will never know. I don't know about you lot but I love to see tom pop up on the edge of the box ready to fire one goal wards! Would just like to see him in a position to do that more often
 
I know it's not the way it's done, but this OP should have been deleted at birth. I've not posted so far as I have only just managed to watch my recordings, but what is the problem? Daft goal, Brady wants his arse kicking - I doubt Robinson would have pulled his GK out with such a **** back pass, but hey, 3 minutes in, let's be realistic. I've said before, I would like us to bring in a GK to compete with McGregor, but Jak is getting too much flak.
We are so close to turning good teams over, it's bloody frustrating, but we are doing okay. We have a mix of players we have never had before, it generates expectations we now can indulge.
Why did we lose? We were found wanting: manager, players and supporters (on here). We're doing okay; that was three BIG games, we called on our backup, I don't think they have let us down - perhaps some on here have let them down.

Jak's a flapper and was obviously at fault for the goal. But it's happened now and it's behind us. As for this post... wrong thead? No mention of Hudds at all.

On that note, I think Tom has been sitting too deep. Not seen him have one of his trademarked long range shots for a while and they always end up shaking things up. Tactics, confidence or position in the team?
 
Toms strength is probably also his weakness as he is very disciplined in his defensive role which means we don't get much attacking input from him, and Diame is given the attacking leeway by Bruce who probably doesn't want to tread on his toes given Allardyces problems with Diame.

Considering I counted several times he broke the play up on Saturday I would say his defensive qualities are pretty decent. He's not a Matic or a Wanyama but he breaks up the play nicely and more often than not gives the ball to one of our players to do something with
 
He made more tackles than anyone else in our squad last season.

I know it's in the past and a different club, but wasnt there a story about Tom losing about 2 stone after the less than militaryistic Jol was sacked?
