Well, whatever they are doing there is more atmosphere there. Watching the occasional German game they are in the stadium well before kick off whilst we have empty seats filling up at kick off as people arrive with a bucket of food.No wonder there is less atmosphere here.
Won’t happen in Hull. Police and council find a lot of football fans gathering in one place and having a drink a threat to law and order and the end of civilisation as we know it.
It’s just culture. The continent and ultra style fans are just going to make more continuous noise throughout the game. English fans have always been reactionary to the game in front of them.
If you think German fans aren’t entering the ground with a beer and a bratwurst in hand I’ve got something to tell you
A fan park was toyed with but the club themselves decided against it as there’s not a suitable space with the stadium ring. Police were ok with the idea from what I was told
I'm always in my seat well before kick off, for a 3 pm start I'm there for 2-58 pm.

All this street food stuff is fine .... but imo should be for pre match fan park and concourses etc, not for bringing to your seat. It's a football match, not a dining venue. Of course it's a (albeit just one) contributory factor toward why the atmosphere is mostly poor nowadays.
Pies and the like have always been taken into the stand? And we’re now at the point where clubs are trialling beer in the stands again. It’s personal choice.
I understand. Just wanted to point out the club made an attempt at something like this but it just wasn’t viable. Which is a shame as I lost out on a decent sales package with it
Massive difference between a pie (like they used to be decades back and a bovril v's what is essentially now like a proper meal).
Yep, it's personal choice, I'm just saying that in my personal opinion, it's not what inside a football stadium (as in past the concourse, if even there) should be about.
I get that. I think as times change so have modern tastes. I’m not saying I go out my way to eat the street food given it’s quite pricey but I must admit the choice being there is nice.
The club has got some notoriety by being one of the best stadiums to get food at on a matchday. I don’t think it will massively move the needle but can only imagine it’s brought in extra revenue.

ive never understood how so many people are hungry at a 3pm game, right bang in middle of dinner and tea innit , i always wonder which one the food is for people

When I went to matches after a 6x2 shift I always had something to eat, a late lunch before dinner when I got home
The club wouldn’t want a fan park unless they owned all the food stalls
life moves on whether you agree with it or not think I woulda loved some crumble on many miserable days at Boothferry Park
It makes the club a lot of money too
Well, you don’t atmosphere from people stuffing their faces whilst sat down then dashing off 10 minutes before half time to queue for some more and sit down eating again.
Again, I doubt that’s an exclusive thing to English culture nor is it just a city thing. The Ipswich game last season was an example of a good atmosphere and I doubt it’s because we saw a downturn in katsu chicken being sold
Food has nothing to do with it.
It's traditional to have a pie at the football it's just the catering has got better. Even if it was the reason that would only affect pre match and maybe 5 mins at half time.
I have been at games where people were still eating 20minutes into the half. One lass, about the size of Hattie Jacques but only about 18 put one bucket of food down after 15 minutes and got another one out from underneath her seat.
