FA Cup Weekend

<laugh> ... Spuds seem to have cornered the market on delusion ... so no ...

Wonderful irony - being told to 'man-up' by someone unable to accept that a penalty decison was wrong, despite it being almost universally accepted now by pundits, press and neutral fans .. in fairness there are a fair few less dense Spuds on their match-day thread that have acknowledged that it was never a pen ... and to quote ex-Spurs player Danny Murphy on talkSport thies morning ".. it wasn't a penalty ... if that had been given against me, I'd be fuming .."

... the most beautiful irony is a Spuds Mod with a forum name reflecting poor refereeing being the most adamant of all that it was a correctly awarded penalty <doh>

.. then NowSuffering bleating that nasty Leicester won't set up in a way to allow Spurs to beat them ... priceless <laugh>

...and I'm deluded?

Even HIAG seems to have had the good sense (or understanable embarrasment) to have steered clear of this one ...

... to reiterate ... I'm more than happy with the result and with our lads putting to bed another myth ... that we have no strength in depth ... Spuds ended up with virtually their full first team for the last quarter and still never looked like scoring ... title challengers? ... delusion?

<laugh>

Still laughing at your own jokes? Still, nothing new there!

It's very difficult to score when a bus is parked as well as yours was yesterday. I just wondered if you were actually going to try and play some football in the replay?

It's very easy for pundits to look in hindsight and say it wasn't a penalty. To me, it's still one that you see given sometimes and sometimes that you don't. From the referee's viewpoint it clearly looked as though he used his hand to push the ball out of Rose's path. You must know yourself that if your hand or arm are away from your body and come in contact with the ball, there's a good chance a penalty will be awarded.

... if you'd cared to look I haven't had a go at the ref - he just got the decision wrong - even the usually closed shop Referees Union is admitting that

... only ones finding it difficult to admit are a few denser Spuds ...

Hopefully technology will soon alleviate such errors

... in terms of parking buses, if Spuds are ever going to be credible title contenders they will need to be able to overcome that .. Citeh and Arsenal seem to do it with ease and Man United successfully dealt with it for years - as the accumulation of titles evidences ...

.

It'd remain subjective even with technology assistance.

I can understand why the ref gave it as he did move his arm towards the ball and he did touch it, which moved the ball away from Rose.

The intent is dubious, but even with umpteen replays the pundits didn't have total consensus on it.

So, this referees Union is, in fact, one ex referee - Mark Halsey who, as with all the pundits, delivered his verdict ( which he's entitled to) after viewing numerous replays. You seem to ignore the fact that both the referee and commentators initial reactions were, penalty.

You referring to me as dense, is laughable

Yes, we will have to find a way of overcoming buses parked as well as yours. It's not easy when it's done that well, and it's not nice to watch. But, it seems to be becoming a big part of the game nowadays - unfortunately!!

It's the hypocrisy that gets me. People are all too ready to laugh and sneer at Chelsea, or whoever, for parking the bus, but when their own team does it!....

Exactly, Tobes. You have to remember where the referee is seeing it from. He sees the defenders arm go away from the side of his body and knock the ball from Rose's path.

I agree about intent. Only the player himself knows what was in his head at that moment. But, if you move your arm away from your body and come into contact with the ball, you're running a big risk of giving away a penalty. Intentional, or not.

.. only Kevin Kilbane seemed to think it was ... until MOTD2 when he openly admitted that he had been mistaken with his first thoughts?

What's done is done .. but there does seem to be overwhelming consensus that it was an incorrect decision .. but each to their own ...

Ironically you were not included in my thoughts on the denser Spuds - unlike a couple of others you have merely commeted that from the referees perspective he might have thought it was ... I accept that ... it was just wrong.

In terms of the bus ... we have adopted the same tactics all season ... not worried about conceding possession high up the field where it can't hurt you .. high pressing - counter attack at speed ... we have accumulated more points away from home than anyone else in the Premier league and have scored more goals than anyone else in the process ... our bus has some real gear shifts and the opposition are finding it difficult to cope with our attacking prowess ... long may it continue.

You can't say the ref was wrong to give it given what he'll have seen in that split second though, irrespective of what the pundits have concluded since.

Even with off field assistance the observer would have found it difficult to decide in a few seconds whether it was deliberate or not.

In terms of dodgy penalties awarded it wasn't up there.

I said it was wrong in terms of not being a penalty ... i.e that he made a wrong decision - which he clearly did - that happens ...that said, given that he only had a split second to make a decision, as you state, he might just have given the benefit to Dyer given that there was no immediate danger so why would Dyer have handballed it? ..

... tbf that was just about the only decision the ref got wrong in the game.... but he still got it wrong.

I, and others, still don't accept that it was clearly wrong, as you constantly claim. Subjective, yes. But, clearly wrong, no!
His hand was away from his body and made contact with the ball. The referee interpreted it one way, you've interpreted it another.

.. we'll just have to disagree ... but I suspect my view is shared by the vast majority and that there is a disproportionate number of Spuds in the minority <laugh> ... we move on.... looking forward to Wednesday.

The ref got it wrong. If the decision had gone against them, you can bet that the same people convincing themselves that it was the correct decision, would be arguing the exact opposite.

That's football fans for you though, biased, partisan and blinkered when it comes to our own teams, nobody is exempt from it.

Fosse is just perplexed and dazed because he was busy jizzing one off with his I pad logged into not606 and then up popped Kane in the 90th..and that excitement morphed into frustration and he had a meltdown...with no little time to get over it.

..I don't have an I Pad ..you don't have a clue ..balance. :)

I can see this a saga that will run and run, with two more matches to go, who will ultimately come out on top in the battle of Sp*rs vs Leicester?

I remember a much clearer handball not given when Bentaleb made a fantastic save against us. Sigh.

A bit harsh to say Leicester parked the bus. 10 shots, 2 goals and 5 corners. Spurs had most of the ball, as you'd expect of any team chasing a game for 40 minutes.
