Yep, that was precisely what I meant and what I said when I stated that ‘they can recall them tomorrow if they want’.

Really not quite sure why we’ve just had these last few posts since then.

Actually, they probably can’t recall them tomorrow, even if there is a recall clause, it would have had to have been triggered by now.

give them a few industrial boneshakers in the first few minutes and they'll soon wimp out - they're used to diving without being touched

Deja vu - 1966 - we beat Forest at home in the FA Cup - we went to Stamford Bridge in the cup and took them to a replay - then we won the World Cup - you heard it here first

Just hope the outcome of the replay is different to the one in 1966. Would be a good one to win at their ground though, if I was Adkins, I would be telling the group go win it for Ryan, as it was at Chelsea that he had his awful head injury. No better incentive.

Going out a limb here, but I bet the crowd will be less if we bring them back to Hull.

Ha...sounds like old schooldays in the bike-sheds (or bus shelters) . "They're used to diving without being touched, guaranteed prelude to knee-shakers."

Abramovich will tell Conte to fire on all cannons - the shame of a Russian National manager being fired by Hucking Full!! is unacceptable and must be punished severely comrades.

Slight tack to port here but is Charles Eckberg ( sp) still alive? He was the old bugger who used to report from Blundell Park on Blunderside a good few years back?

I would imagine he's dead (apologies if not). Like you say he sounded an old bugger when he did those GTFC reports and that "Scene From The South Bank" feature back in the day (late 1970s/early 1980s?). He also wrote a book on the club and one on Grimsby's fishing industry. It used to grate on me how cocky he always came across whereas City fans had the perennially downbeat tones of Elliott Oppel (sp?) bringing news of the latest setback from Boothferry!

FOOTNOTE: A simple Google check directs you to a Grimsby-born solicitor by the name of Charles Ekberg. It can't be can it...? :emoticon-0102-bigsm

It's been common place for the clubs loaning players to include a clause saying the player can't play against them since Lomana Lua Lua scored for Portsmouth against Newcastle.

Nowt to do with official FA or FIFA rules, it's just become a part of the boilerplate of loan contracts.

I think it’s interesting, if I was the manager of a great team against a **** one, I’d like to see how those I loaned out did against us. Obvs I appreciate you might not want them scoring the winner against you, but for our 3 defenders that’s pretty ruddy unlikely,

They can't take the risk though that say, an Aina header sends them out, regardless of how unlikely it is.

It's unfair on the player as well, because if he does score or accidentally cripple a chelsea player he has to go back at the end of the season possibly facing lots of animosity.

As I said earlier, happens in plenty of other countries in more important competitions without it being an issue.

You would want to weaken your opposition, which denying them access to your loan player would presumably do (unless it is Robbie Turner who has been loaned out). Winning is everything, I’ve read that on here I think.

Good to see BT have considered Hull City supporters when choosing this as the Friday night game.
