I had a job in Guinea once, back in my surveying days. Did some work in Conakry, but then went up-country to Fria where there was a bauxite mine. The trucks they used were incredible, tyres the height of a double-decker bus.Is that wishful thinking, aswan, or just a general enquiry ?
The Gambia was my home for over 18 years, until the political situation dictated that it simply wasn't safe anymore. Sad to have left, and I miss it every day.
(That's probably an exaggeration, but they were huge)
I had many friends from both Guinea, and Guinea Bissau. Sadly, never got to visit either country.
What kind of Surveyor were you ? I was a Quantity Surveyor.
The fans are of no interest for any football club....They want the TV money and the fans will have to lump it or dont go....Either way it dont matter to clubs these days...

Jeez, what a small world Man. I think I worked at the mine you refer to aswan, well, in the refinery. I was there in 1995/6 as part of an installation team. We installed Blast furnace components in an refinery in Kimbo, which I think is Fria. Sticks in my mind coz the project was a nightmare from the off decaying into a horror show until we left shivering and frightened 18 months later. Not really but the project has been and still is the source of many great and grossly exaggerated stories. I could fill a giant barrel with whiskey and another with Rum with all the toasts I've made to the people involved.
I know Guinea is all Chinese and Russian now but the company paying us then was American called Reynolds Metals Company, they part owned the bauxit mine we were heading for, they owned it along with the Government of the day under the name Aluminum Company of Guinea. Ring any bells aswan? could be the same mine you worked at too, never know, we may have even met, spooky eh!
Of course they will take any Mugs money, I would.....But if you think they rely on gate money these days then your deluded.....Only Mugs would let themselves be fleeced......Entrance fees and ST's should be more than halved and then i still would not pay......It is one big rip off.....
