I was there on the Northbank and the team battled and battled. Freestone still my favorite keeper was outstanding all game. Thomo's Goal was a beat as it curled away from the keepers hands......The team that night deserved that win.........PS I'm sure Hartson punch the air when we won.....
FA Cup Fifth Round Draw ball numbers 1 SWANSEA 2 AFC WIMBLEDON 3 SHREWSBURY OR WOLVES 4 MILLWALL 5 BRIGHTON OR WEST BROM 6 BRISTOL CITY 7 DERBY 8 DONCASTER 9 CHELSEA 10 WATFORD 11 MIDDLESBROUGH OR NEWPORT COUNTY 12 MANCHESTER CITY 13 BARNET OR BRENTFORD 14 PORTSMOUTH OR QPR 15 MANCHESTER UNITED 16 CRYSTAL PALACE
Home to Doncaster or Wimbledon will be the favoured draw for most teams. Worst would be away to Man City for any team hoping to progress. I'd like another home tie please.......
Yes Home Draw please. Donny Wombles Barnet Brentford Millwall Newport Pompey Qpr I think we have a good chance with any of these....
Very happy with the draw. Few more PL teams to be knocked out and it could be an unfancied team in the final...........
Good showing from Barnet but I fear they may have missed their opportunity but it's the cup so who knows. A replay is good news for us with a relatively short period of time till the next round.
I remember being in Somerton Park on 9th January 1979 when County beat West Ham 2-1. I was in Cardiff Uni and went across with a few lads. I’ve still got the match programme. It’s dated 6 January - but the match was postponed on the Saturday and played the following Tuesday evening. The West Ham team that night was: Starting lineup: Mervyn Day John McDowell Paul Brush Alvin Martin Billy Bonds Frank Lampard (Snr) Trevor Brooking Alan Devonshire David Cross Bryan ‘Pop’ Robson Alan Taylor Not a bad side that!
