Lincoln at home. At least then there would be some spectators at the KCOM, Lincoln took 5000 to Dipswich on Saturday
Blimey is it still Sincil Bank? Many a team have moved away from their old stadiums now that the new stadium names just don't resonate with me.
Well sort of but not quite. It was revamped in 1987 and 94/95 ish with new stands etc However, it is primarily the same ground/pitch that the club have occupied since the 1890s. Some of their support have attitudes that go back that far too - especially where we are concerned LOL!
We played Middlesbrough 4 times in a row over 12 days in 67/68: Jan 27th FA Cup (Home - Draw) Jan 31st, FA Cup Replay (Away - Draw) Feb 3rd, League (Home - Defeat) Feb 7th, FA Cup 2nd Replay (Bootham Crescent - Defeat)
It was a nice place to live in too and now it's just a nice place to work, if not fookin boring to get there and back! Second home for me!
I remember a cracking midweek away game at Brentford. Well actually I don't remember the game at all or even if we won. I do remember that one of the stewards placed in front of the away end had a shockingly back hair style complete with dodgy highlights. He was regaled with more and more un-PC chants and songs until they swapped him with the lad at the other end of the away terrace. At which point the majority of the singing fans followed him and began all over again. At some point he was switch to another stand and his replacement was loudly questioned about the nature of his relationship with the said steward. It didn't get any better when the police lined up there instead.....I think I miss the fun of away games the most.
C'mon Ref, I lived in Lincoln and the villages just outside of it for 18 years, I love the place and the people are usually very pleasant. However, if there was a Premier League for moaning in a dull accent, that county would win it every year. The Cod heads and the Scunts hate each other ... naturally. They would both happily unite to hate us. To be fair and joking aside, I have quite a lot of banter with one or two of the security guys and porters at my place of work who support the Imps and the Iron. They grudgingly accept we've done well and deserve to be in the premier league. Sadly, I have to say that the Grimsby lot are a different case altogether. I have fingers crossed for The Imps.
We need to be out the Cup. We need to avoid being giant -killed. Ideal draw: away to Sperz, Soton, CPFC. Anywhere distant in the PL except Arsenal. Quiet quick exit against a decent team.
Cambridge away for me, or if the ****s win, TWS at home. Just love to remind them fools of how it is at the mo.
Fulham away would be my preference. Nice friendly part of London. Great beers and superb pies. Contactless payment. A proper club if you will.
I've got a sneaking suspicion we may get Millwall. Deffo wouldn't want that. Like some others, Lincoln away would be worth a day out.
