1959 – Fidel Castro seizes power in Cuba. Human rights groups express concern about machinery of repression. Formula 1 organisers express delight at plans for 1960 Havana Grand Prix.

1973 – General Pinochet sets up Chilean military dictatorship. FOCA ‘extremely interested’ in establishing Santiago Grand Prix.

1975 – Mass executions across Cambodia. F1 bosses say Phnom Phen Grand Prix ‘looks promising’.

1982 – Falkland Islands invaded. Argentinean Grand Prix grudgingly postponed.

1988 – Ayatollah Khomeini accepts UN truce in Iran-Iraq war. Grand Prix of Tehran now ‘on hold’.

1992 – Slobodan Milosevic initiates vast ethnic cleansing programme in Serbia. FIA’s plans for Belgrade GP ‘progressing well’.

1994 – Apartheid ends. South African Grand Prix cancelled.

1997 – Laurent Kabila founds Democratic Republic of the Congo, suspends constitution, perpetuates human rights abuses, maintains talks over possible 1998 Kinshasa GP.

2001 – Burmese military junta mounts new campaign of violence causing thousands to flee their homes. FIA reminds them not to forget their tickets for forthcoming Yangon Grand Prix.

2009 – North Korea carries out nuclear tests. FIA describes facilities for planned Pyongyang GP as ‘very impressive’.
 
You've listed 10 venues JerseyMac. How many of these were actually on the calendar and not subsequently cancelled? Answer: Zero! This is nothing but cheap spin.

'Sniff Petrol' is the trashiest 'anti' motoring site I know of. Have a look through and you'll not find them have a good word to say about anyone or anything to do with motoring. It is a cynical joke and designed as an unsophisticated WUM rag under the auspices of appearing to be just having a laugh. It's complete garbage. Indeed, if a web-site could ever be a WUM, 'Sniff Petrol' is it! Every single thing they write is designed to denigrate motoring, motor-racing, cars, motorbikes, piston engines, anyone who enjoys them and anyone remotely associated with any of the five. It's the pits: the absolute pits!
 
cosi, I'm surprised. How can you not find it funny? It's just schtick.

I find it very funny and satirical, but there you go, we probably just have different senses of humour!

Yeah. I've found it funny in the past too.
Maybe I've just become bored with what I see as its repetitive hidden agenda. Apologies for coming over a bit stronger than I really meant. Reading my words back is not something I normally do but I was a bit heavy there. And it's time for bed, so my other excuse is that I'm dog tired and irritable!
