Teams were told the lapped cars would not unlap themselves

I agree with your safety car point, but am of the opinion that in all sports the referees decision should be final. That's why I hate VAR. :emoticon-0100-smile

surely you must have heard the analogy with a football match
man city winning 3-0 with a minute to go and the ref says lets stop the match and have a penalty shoot out to decide the game
and man city you can play in bare feet.

the refs decision is final

You definitely don’t watch much football.

Not seen that particular law on the FIFA site. :emoticon-0100-smile

Wolff told Max he ‘deserved’ the title in post-race text.

Mercedes to scrap appeal as Toto Wolff gives up Red Bull title battle

Hmm, so Hamilton and now Wolff can't have been watching F1 for very long.

Lewis Hamilton 'asked Toto Wolff to withdraw protests' before FIA chose Max Verstappen

I was about to say the same to you. The Verstappen pass on the first lap happens a dozen times every race, in the middle of the field. He took a chance and made it stick - as Brundle commented, it’s called motor racing.

and this is exactly why im becoming to hate F1. verstappens "overtakes" invariable involve him bullying his way through a corner and yet the pundits and a lot of fans think this is ok.
i used to like it when the most aggressive driver was ricciardo who made safe lunges. very little if any contact and respect to the other driver.
once he knows hes gonna make the corner verstappen turns his wheel just enough to deny the other driver any room.

he has zero respect.
a few o0f the drivers have commented on this.

but its entertainment and so its now encouraged.
i got fed up with schumachers driving and that put me off for a while.

I think you are mixing up Grand Prix racing with a teacups ride. Easily done I suppose.

Ok. So Mercedes took a chance on the crashed car being removed slowly and the race ending behind the SC. It didn’t happen. So they made a mistake. I mean, they came second in a race they were leading, so they evidently didn’t get it right did they?

they expected the rules to be followed.
they were told lapped cars were not to pass. no need to pit.
normally cars are not only allowed to pass but also unlap themselves and catch up to the back of the field which would have taken 2 or 3 laps.

when lapped cars were told they could pass the safety car should have stayed on track for another lap.
it wasnt.
im wasting my time arguing with you if you dont know the facts.

Except they applied all of the rules correctly, not just the one that suits your argument.

I’ll leave you to it now.

do you think lunging in from miles behind and only just making the corner and in the process forcing the car off the track is the way to overtake?

if the other driver decides sod this i have every right to turn in (much like how verstappen himself drives) there is invariably contact.

i can see your hatred of hamilton. i hate him too. but i wont see him getting stick for something he didnt do.

verstappen needs slagging off for his bullying tactic whilst cornering and his willingness to cheat just as much as hamilton needs slagging off for all his off track blm and woke nonesense.

Also another side to that was had Verstappen taken both cars out he would have been world champion.

Red Bull had zero to lose last throw of the dice so to speak. As Horner said we need something from the racing gods to win this. That's exactly what he got a gift from the FIA.

the fia had to reiterate the rules pre race and even mention that if any team with allegiances to either team affected the outcome then points would be deducted from the main team (verstappen)

quite ironic that it was a mercedes power unit car that triggered the safety car.

right thats it for me on this thread
maybe see a few of you next year on this or similar f1 thread
no doubt watching russel become wdc.

Except they didn’t apply the all of the rules correctly as they only allowed the cars between Verstappen and Hamilton to unlap not the ones further back which would have taken more time. They decided to bend the rules to try and make a race of it by wiping out Hamilton’s large lead at the time.
As I’ve said before I’m not a fan but do feel this was a farce.
