Of course! What’s the point of football if you’re not expecting to win?

Expecting and Hoping can be two very different things.

The good thing is, I got it very wrong last season, so my past performance of setting expectations is no guide to our future performance. Hopefully we do better than my expectations - again.

Indeed but you must go in to a game expecting to win. When I play the lottery I hope to win and not expect it.

I think i said 4th before season but i'm thinking more 6th-7th now, the extra games could do us in a bit, and there's no telling how long yesterday could affect us for mentally.

Aye, when you are robbed in a game by the ref or whatevever you can use it as fuel for future games, like last season after liverpool away and palace home, we went on that winning run.

When you throw a game away like that it can linger.

I am a bit concerned about us mentally, time will tell.

I said 5th or 6th at the start of the season, and that remains my prediction. No amount of early season bed wetting will affect my decision making.

We have to stop wasting good chances. Barnes was surely brought in to be one of those elements. Tonali replacing Longstaff, again, should improve the output from that particular position.

Surely that's how we have to shape up moving forward. If either winger isn't working, Wilson on, Isak out wide.

Could you imagine someone like Tiger Woods in his prime going in to a tournament thinking “****, I ain’t winning this”? Of course not, he expected to win. In the same tournaments Langer and Kite and Els and every other competitor expected themselves to win. They didn’t see Woods and go “arrrgghhh dammit”

Football isn't golf it's fair sport ! If tiger Woods was insisting his competitors played with wooden clubs from 100 yards further back that might be getting similar.
