I read it different WJ. The process is being finalised (ie they are past many of the stages), they have been working hard to ensure the due diligence was completed (not is completed, which would be the right tense if the DD was still ongoing). They also state that the delay with the FA was mainly because of the Xmas holidays - having worked throughout the Xmas period, I can understand that the relevant people may not have been around to do it, but I'm not putting any credence into this element of the statement (too pat, too easy to say). But there would be no reason to work with the FA if the DD had not been done and they weren't happy with it. They would just walk away. So my conclusion is that DD has been fully completed and it is other elements of the final process that need to be done
Come on, give them a chance. I'd take the GFH 'spin' (or whatever you would like to call it) over the equivalent from the Bates crew anyway. Its good we're being kept informed. Yes I know it's not concrete but the third party has also now been mentioned now that its confirmed who it it is. They're all but running the club now by the sounds of it. It's almost a repeat of the situation when GFH first took over from papa smurf. I have to wonder though, with Mr Shaun Harvey now employed by the football league, how long this thing will take to approve. But as was said earlier, we can only judge this on the calibre of player(s) turn up this month. Chin up though lads, it won't be a same old same old. MOT
Ffs the third party was announced in December and paraded around the ground with Haigh like it was the second coming before the Blackburn game. Charlton did a TO in less time than has elapsed since that game. I would take bet that this is exactly the same Old, same old. We will get some cheap freebies transfers and more hype that's all. Then we will be told that cash has had go on day to day running expenses and we will be asked to forget all these 25000 - 31000 gates and the money they bring.
But we're not being kept informed. The dogs in the street two weeks ago that flowers Haigh and smiley salad were three of the four in the new lineup. Keeping us informed would have revealed the fourth. They've just rehashed stuff that the yep had already reported among others
Sheldon, you missed the first part of the sentence, which makes it quite clear that it is ongoing we have been working hard not we have worked hard. Try reading both versions again and see what has finality & what doesn't. As for your second paragraph, you clearly have missed the Charlton story. Para 3 - no reason why there cannot be parallel stream of work in complex projects. The tasks to be completed in the process are not all dependant or linear.
WJ - I read the "we have been working hard" to relate to the whole process, not just the DD. And they are still working hard on the hwole process, yet the DD (the way I read it) is done. I have missed Charlton completely, but I also said I put no credence in that element. You may think that doing these thigns in parallel is a good idea, but others may feel that they want to keep their powder dry and let the least number of people know about their activities until they need to announce it. If they don't feel there is a big rush (and we all know how badly wrong the January sales can go - I can foresee that the TO doesn't complete until Feb 1st - just saying) then so be it. I'm sick of the short-termism we have employed throughout my years as a LUFC supporter, and I'm happy to see we have a squad of kids and some experience. Things will improve - but I'm afraid I think we have to drop Austin for that to happen
Ken Bates took GHF for a ride even though they spent a long time looking at the books,so you can blame anyone investing millions from checking things out properly.Millions aren't easy to come by.
Here we go - another teaser. Bastard! David Haigh ‏@haighdavid 19m Looking forward to coffee with @petervirdee tomorrow.
See that's the thing. Haigh should stay off twitter till this damn thing is done. Either say Virdee is involved or not. He knows we're crying out for a wealthy investor and virdee seems to have plenty dosh
Para 1 - Mr Haigh already announced pre-Xmas that all was complete apart from the FL approval. So which statement is true & which is the lie. Both from the same person. Para 2 - Charlton takeover completed in jig time a few days ago. Work can indeed be done during the festive season, it would seem (unless it' got anything to do with Leeds). Para 3 - Academic anyway - Haigh has already told us that it's FL approval that's the only outstanding activity. (got to blame someone when you're high profile & inept - the two don't go hand in hand in the public eye).
Para 1 - neither are lies, both tell the truth about the same activity that happened pre-Xmas that they worked really hard on. Merely confirmation of it. Para 2 - not an issue for me. Para 3 - backs up para 1. DD been done.
Charlton didn't have Bates web of deceit and a court case to check through, plus only one buyer would make it a lot easier and quicker.
Disagree with you there - Bates has nothing to do with the Due Diligence - it's GFH who are the present owners. And Haigh should have nothing to hide, ensuring a swift DD. Unless Bates STILL has something to do with us. Worrying possibility ...
He does a court case, which if he was to win could take part of any new owners money, you would want to know how much you could be liable for and is it possible that he could be reinstated for the rest of his contract if he was to win.
FFsake will someone go on twatter and ask Haigh if a DD has been done, or stop dissecting every statement and wait to see what happens.
