Agreed. I said it at the time and was widely criticised, but we should've bitten United's hand off when they offered £50m for him.
That £50m bid was made in 2017 though and Dier was pretty bloody good back around then, as were all of our players. Hindsight makes the case to have sold him a lot stronger but back then I think the majority of fans would’ve been glad we didn’t.
Though it does seem kinda mad we only took £50m for Walker around that same time, arguably the best RB in Prem history, £50m seems cheap for what City have gotten out of him.
50m was very good for then, as you know, and really we could not stop Walker he wanted to go. Dier was also good for much of Conte's time and undervalued by the fans for too much of the time IMO.
Anyway at that time you couldn't decide between Spurs and Sex so you were probably too occupied to make value judgements.

It was a good fee but it could/ should’ve been better when looking at the quality Walker possessed, realistically we should’ve never looked at selling any of our key players back then either as we were so close to something good, in fact we should never look at selling a key player in general. City got the far better end of that deal too, especially as after Trippier, we ended up with three of the worst RBs in recent Prem memory until Porro came along and stopped the rot.

One of the improvements in the last few years is Spurs making it much more difficult for teams like United & City to prise away our players. We are still susceptible to the likes of Madrid and Munich but we are much less likely to supply a Berbatov or a Walker now. Arsenal, Chelsea, City and United would prefer to deal with each other rather than taking on Levy.
1. Did Citeh not effectively have to pay all of the money
in one go (even though their unsettling worked) ??
2. I dispute whether Walker had anywhere near the effect
on the improvements of Citeh post 2016-17 as he
he did on Spurs 2015-17.

He's 28. I really hope he can get back to full fitness and playing well again.
Think his career is over tbh. Too much to cope with I suspect. That's not a criticism btw, think he's only started to deal with the horrific abuse he was subjected to.
