Who would you have as our next Manager

Just a thought if anyone doubts that the impetus to leave is coming from RK rather than the club, consider this. If RK doesn't want to sign a new deal and the board says that he has to or will be sacked, then he can call their bluff. If the board sack him, then he is free to join whoever he likes and since there would be no compensation to pay there would be more money available for his salary. Obviously, the board wouldn't want a manager who wasn't committed to the job but RK just has to sit tight. It's obviously him who has pushed for this move.

But if the board went and said something along those lines, not as blatant as that and then Koeman's agent tells him we can sort this, then talks to Everton, then his agent messed up the chance to sit tight and therefore all the cards then lie with the Saints.

I think that is a possibility.

Just out of interest, if anyone can be bothered to look it up, how many times has Les come out with a positive interview regarding a manager/player and then the person in question has actually signed? I know it is just human nature to remember the times when you have been burnt so to speak, but I really can't think of a time where he has said "player x is in negotiations and we hope they are concluded quickly" and it has actually happened.

Which is why I have a sneaky suspicion that the contract wasn't as close to be signed as people are suggesting it was.

Yes, but Koeman himself has always indicated that he was staying. Look at any videos of him towards the end of the season (if you can do it without vomiting)....this was a happy man looking forward to an exciting third season. This is money pure and simple...he is leaving us for Everton FFS. I bet he has never in his life ever dreamed of managing Everton...he might have joined them two seasons ago in order to get into the EPL, but he achieved that with us. I look forward to watching him lie through his teeth trying to describe Everton as his dream job.

I think a couple of things are getting blurred in all this, not by you necessarily Fran, but it came to me reading this.

I think we all accept one of the reasons he is leaving is money. Some think this is greedy or unacceptable and others are fine with it.

Some think he has shafted us/led us on as some of our ITKs and the Les video suggest. Others are sceptical about the video or the advanced nature of the contract talks.

I agree he seemed happy and he suggested he would stay but I don't hold that against him as we don't know all the facts and to me it isn't that important, mainly as I personally focus on the important bit that comes after this saga ends, our club.

I appreciate we have different views as supporters but isn't that what this forum is about and football supporting in general...

If he goes I just hope he is honest about why, something like "I had intended to stay at Southampton, but everyone has a price and £7m a year is a lot more than mine ..."

Unfortunately I think it is more likely we will have to hear all about an exciting project, great opportunity, impressed by the vision being shown etc.

Saints did have a deal on the table that had been agreed by his representatives. Saints understood it was a done deal. The contract was there for the signing and was expected. If anyone cocked up it was his (new?) agent, I have a feeling that there may yet be repercussions as to the way this has been dealt with by the agent breaking the rules big time.

**** me Impsaint! The man kept saying he would stay for his contract at least. No agent, no Board member said that. Koeman said that, trying to look Mr Honourable.

He has gone back on that. What is so difficult or wrong to not see that, or to feel the need to try and find blame with "our side"

Yes, it is our side!

Glad some of you aren't my mates.

No Fran, you are not allowed to be a "fan" over this. You must have all legal angles covered before you can choose where to stand.

Yes of cours that is what we'll hear, followed by people then digging out our Board.

Little bit of an unfair thing that Fats...

It is debate, if it generally doesn't agree with the masses then it cant be so, or at least that's what you seem to be saying.

No one is doubting that as fans we can act as we like, no one has said it is right or wro,g, just different...

d. If anyone cocked up it was his (new?) agent, I have a feeling that there may yet be repercussions as to the way this has been dealt with by the agent breaking the rules big time.

I wonder if that won't happen and this is why we will be getting around 5m rather than the 3m previously mentioned. Those figures are clearly speculation, but it would add up a bit, couple with the agent back tracking on his statements, we may have told them to chuck another couple of million on the table to keep it clean.. Greedy bastards we are.

Indefensible. The man is a scum bag after all this, I don't see how anyone can view it any differently! Like I said, go and watch the fan forum, he knew how much Pochettino walking out upset the fans, and he's done it to us anyway.

I hope we do try and get the agent/Everton done for tapping up/breach of contract, although I'm not sure how much we could prove.

I'm fed up with people seeming to "want" it to be the Board. If in doubt, blame the lyingbastard who is leaving.
I don't know why people want to make this complicated...some fans on Saintsweb probably believe that Americans didn't land on the moon and the Twin Towers weren't hit by a plane....usually the simple answer is the correct answer. Koeman being a tosspot has all the bases covered.
