We have blown a few teams away this season but more importantly we have ground out results. That is not just luck but the sign of a good team. Great teams don't blow away every PL team, that doesn't happen. Them win a few amazing games, an occasional cricket score and lots of gritty 1-0 wins.

We have indeed. But I don't think we ever reached the performance level as against City, Lpool and Chrlsea under Poch with Koeman. Not saying there haven't been some fantastic wins but just not as utterly wonderful to watch

Looking at the Everton squad, budget etc I'm absolutely delighted that we tied van dijk and forster to long term contracts. Not saying they would have gone but they may well have been targets one and two.
I'm sure you're right there, as we'd take both of them, they're outstanding players. So that's a great piece of business getting them to commit long term

One thing I have felt for the last 2 years is that our positions have been slightly false. We often haven't played particularly great football but the results have generally been good.

I've always tried to hide the fact that under Poch we used to blow teams away and the season we had under his guidance there were games where we looked generally unbeatable.

Am I alone on this?

Our possession stats have not been great in the last two seasons, even though our results generally have been. We've been happier to sit back and defend for long periods under Koeman than we were under Poch, even though we haven't always defended very well. Once again though, the results speak for themselves. I wouldn't describe Ron as a visionary coach, nor would I say he had any very definite ideas about how he likes the game to be played. He likes winning though. A good coach, not yet close to being a great one. We can find better.

lol, I can't see that one happening mate
I know mate, but according to your deluded fans on radio you're going to sign Joe Hart for £40 mill (will not leave for a non champions league team), Mane for £30-£35 Million (again wants European football), to name a few.

I think with the money you'll be after players like Schneliderlin, Depay, Jones. Basically the players Mourinho won't need anymore?

Oh, and David Dein is about to join Everton as well to turn you into the new Arsenal.

Yes, but look at Leicester's possession stats. I am comfortable with letting our opponents have the ball from time to time with Long and Mané lurking on the defenders shoulders.
I think it's worth remembering that the board will have a plan B and will already be making enquiries so it's not just the Koeman situation that they are being tight-lipped about.

I know it's not what you should want in an ideal world, but given the football world is what it is, then if this whole episode has made Saints fans a bit more cynical about what they hear and read, then I see that as a positive. Words are just words. Whether they come from the players, the management or the board.

And I'm not simply suggesting that it's always because people lie or mislead (although undoubtedly this will sometimes be a reason). It may be that circumstances change - for example here, maybe the transfer budget being offered to Ron now by Everton (not to mention his own salary) is just so much more than what they were offering him three weeks ago, that he is now willing to leave whereas before he was not.

Why are people talking about Flores? Watfords second half of the season was dreadful and the football they played was some of the most boring in the league. His record prior to that isn't exactly inspiring either, I'd very surprised if he was on our radar.

The David Dein story is accurate mate, as in he's been spoken to about taking up a position at the club, but it's not certain he'll accept.

As for who we'll be trying to sign, that'll depend on who the new DoF is, a role we've not had before.

The biggest task we face is finding a replacement for Lukaku

I wonder when your lot will realise they should have gone for Les Reed, not Koeman?
