I thought Randy Savage had died, but he is actually posting on this forum.
How do you do Macho Man?
No I'm saying there is a running Internet joke derived from "Do you even lift, brah?". I'm not asking you if you lift :emoticon-0102-bigsm . My English is fine, it was just a crap Internet joke. Made even worse by the fact I've had to explain it haha

This is disloyalty in the extreme. Ron hasn't gone and is still our manager and until he goes I am not even thinking about a possible replacement. SootySaint you should be ashamed for even thinking about starting this thread.
Calm down! Discussing potential managers isn't disrespectful, it's what fans do. Would be strange not to think about a replacement when we know for a fact that our club is in talks with Everton over a compensation deal. It looks like he will go so it is natural to question who will be in next.

I'd be very excited if we got AVB, much more so than Howe who I think is a bit of a gamble with where we are as a club and where he is in his career. He didn't exactly set the world on fire with a decent Burnley team.

Also there's the added advantage that I can potentially exchange beard tips with AVB, make it happen, Les.

I don't want Eddie Howe here, and I don't think he would come.

Hearing that Koeman was given an ultimatum by the board.
If that's true, then more fool us imho.

If Rk said he will stay for the last year but not extend, then we should have gone with that. We would have a whole year to line up a replacement.

But having an extra year doesn't mean you end up with a better manager. Koeman would be going into this summer knowing his signings, planning etc was only for one year. We all know the club always has a list - if managers we like are available now and Koeman doesn't want to sign /wants silly money, it's hard to blame the club.

I'm generally not the most pro-board person, but if Koeman wanted to simply see out his final year, that's the right play. If that's the case though, it would be rather nice if we stopped talking about Koeman being dishonourable...both parties will have done what is right for them, leading to an outcome that ultimately suits both far better than a lame duck year.

I agree it doesn't men you will end up with a better manager, but imho it gives you more chance of getting one.

Yes. If he leaves, he will be equal to poch in my evaluation.
Yeah, same here. In fact, possibly even worse. Whilst I'd check the very ground that Pinocchio walks over for signs of contamination, he never said anything about his future being at Southampton. Which RK was saying only a week or so ago. He also said he would see out his final season whatever he did. If he reneges on that he is totally without honour whatever money is thrown at him.

Can't agree jasper.........if Rk is willing to go to Everton for say 3 years or more............there should have been no reason why he couldn't extend his contract with us.
I have a feeling that RK had other things on his mind and was hoping that if he had a final year with Saints and that it was a consistently good one he was hoping one of the giant clubs might come in for him. Either that or his country........ A lot of things are not adding up though as Saints were convinced it was a done deal as far as I can tell.
Strewth don't they like dangling us on the string.......as per usual though no news.........some would say no news is good news?

I honestly thought, and have said before he would honour his contract then move on.

There is literally nothing to confirm this.

It appears he may wish to go the same way as his agent and speak with Everton.

If so, think we are right to collect some money and get someone to take us forward again.

We may never know the whole story but the board clearly is trying to avoid the revolving door with both players and managers. With a manager unproven in the EPL it makes sense to have a three year deal. Now, they want to sign the core group to longer contracts and this might be the sticking point rather than the money. RK was on a rolling contract previously and might be nervous about what the club wanted- 2,3 maybe even 4 more years. It could be purely about money but maybe not- difficult to be certain although money talks as always. I think that the board have been straightforward regarding what has happened when others have left. If RK was faced with a "sign this or move on" ultimatum then we can't cast him as the villain just yet. Just have to wait and see what happens but it doesn't look hopeful for him staying.

Apologies Godders, no harm intended. I would love him to stay and would happily have him over any of those listed. Unfortunately the press, the "in the knows" and the betting establishments seem to think otherwise, so wanted to see what peoples opinions are of other options.
