Rather warm on the Costa Blanca, after a few days of rain when I arrived 10 days ago.
Even went in the pool yesterday.
A bit cold when first going in though

Especially this part:

But has vowed not to copy predecessor Mauricio Pochettino and break his agreement a year early. He added: “I think that’s different because Pochettino left the club during his contract. That won’t happen to me because I will see my last season of contract.

“I don’t know why I wouldn’t sign a new contract. Until today I am not thinking about what happens after the season.

“Let’s finish on a good way and see what happens in the summer.”

Frame it. He's the man of honour that we all know.

Ronald said to the press in today's press conference that he will decide his future this summer.

If he decides not to extend his deal he will tell the club that this summer, rather than umm'ing and ahh'ing and dragging it out. This means Saints can start the process of finding a new manager from this summer and will have roughly 12 months to organise a replacement, rather than having to launch a recruitment process next summer after being kept hanging on with regard to Koeman's decision.

So, this summer: Ronald will either sign an extension or he'll give the club a one-year notice period and work until the end of the contract.

The man has dignity and integrity, I'll give him that.

He can help bring the right guy in, too.

As long as the club keeps the players informed on the process, and who they're bringing in, it should avoid most (hopefully all) of the uncertainty factor.

Interesting one this. So he's going to need to scout around for options to move to before making a decision, or else risks being out of work next summer (should he choose not to extend). I wonder what happens if a club he likes says "yeah we'd like you, but now, not in 12 months". I mean I guess he stays for the 12 months fairly safe in the knowledge that there'll be movement next summer and something appealing will more than likely crop up.

Just trying to get my head round his thought process. I think it's probably good news and makes him more likely to extend, though perhaps I've talked myself into knots there!

He wouldn't be out of work for long....not at the speed managers get sacked. And I'm sure he is wealthy enough to take a sabbatical of 4-6 months. Not a risk at all.

You can't say we didn't sound him out for sure because we would have known Poch was off, but he told Feyenoord he was leaving without a job in the pipeline by all accounts.

He seems a man confident of his own destiny
