Some people can't bear to hear the board criticised. You can query an action without stating the board is ****. Please don't be so touchy. They are a good board but it would be naive to say they never make mistakes. #damnedifyouexpressanopiniononafootyforum
True I suppose. Although before his final season he had worked miracles with that team. By the time he left pretty much his whole squad was sold off. Howe is a decent coach. Although he didn't do anything outstanding last season. He may have kept Bournemouth up but overall I wasn't that impressed by them.
If you have a opinion and post it on a forum you have to accept some people will disagree and reply. No one is getting touchy it's just people see it differently. I see it as the board have done no wrong. Koeman has just got a crazy offer he can't really refuse. The board don't want to keep answering questions as for the moment there is nothing to say. When there is they will release a statement.
There is another way this could play out. We refuse him permission to talk to Everton, and hold him to his current contract. Everton move on and unveil their second choice as new manager. Saints then sack Koeman, because he won't extend his contract, and unveil a new manager. Koeman takes a year off to contemplate his navel and people learn to stop taking us for mugs. ps. Isn't/wasn't there an informal agreement between clubs that this type of manager poaching wouldn't happen? Or was that during a season?
I disagree. What annoys me is that some people like to imply others are being touchy or overreacting and that we should all be as cool as they are. How arrogant. I am not touchy at all. I was just making an observation... You should be cool about comments like mine. You see, this is a public message board and people may disagree with you. Stay calm and breath deep, okay?
Not at all. Situations change There are times when you should keep quiet, and times when you need to issue statements. I'm not too worked up over it, personally. But I can't blame supporters who have lost some faith in the board as this is the third or fourth time we've supposedly just been putting the final touches on a contract only to see them leave. I could also see how someone could look at it like Forster, JWP, VVD extensions were done quickly after the season and without much talk in the press. So if the club is actually talking about contract negotiations and things going well it means the opposite.
If we are all talking about Howe or Pellegrini or anyone else you may as well add them to the list of not being the next manager. The black box does not do the obvious. Adkins was not a suggestion when we signed him, nor was Pochetino, nor was Koeman.
The bolded part is just weird (unless a joke). I have posted on here for years and am probably the most calm person on here. I have never got annoyed over what some random has posted. My post was simply a reply to yours.
I don't remember that. I seem to remember (rightly or wrongly) his name appeared out of nowhere and he was signed a day or 2 after. I remember the usual names appearing. Howe, Benitez, Bielsa, Sampaoli etc back then.
I'm not so sure. I think there are a few teams that will be rooted to the bottom and caught in the relegation scrap all year (Burnley, Boro, Hull, Sunderland, Bournemouth) a few who will challenge for the title (Citeh, Chelski, Manure, Arse) and that leaves everyone else, including us and Everton as pretty even actually. Everton gave us an absolute doing at home last season. Martinez simply wasn't up to the job as the season wore on though. Give it to someone who is and I suspect you'll see Everton back up there challenging for Europe straight away. Having the right man in place is a huge factor and I think it was apparent to everyone that Martinez was not that man. The likes of Baines, Barry, Barkley, Coleman, Mirrallas have not become poor players, they were playing in a poor set up. Is their squad as good as ours at the moment? No. Will it take £100m (net) to get it there? No again in my humble opinion.
When we played Everton at home it was that gaping hole we were leaving every game early on as our 2 defensive midfielders were dropping into the back 4 making 6 and then every header out was to an empty are for Everton to pick it up 30 yards out.
