Who would you have as our next Manager

I thought it all sounded reasonable to be fair. He would have stayed to see out his contract, we wanted more and he didn't want to commit. Nothing too tricky about that.

And remember conversations are rarely he said/he said and finish. Discussions and arguments go round and round, then each person goes away and remembers it from their POV. All I would say is that we got compo and not Koeman, so I think he was the one pressing. Everton's offer may not have been the thing that changed Ron's mind, but was the thing that gave him options.

I've posted on one thread, the one about Koeman i.e. this one.

It's a multi club forum you beauts. Same as your lads have posted on the thread on the Everton page, it's what the entire idea is.

Anyway, I'm beyond bored of the techy bullshit I've taken on here so **** the lot of you, miserable set of ****s
Oh dear Tobes........you had to go and spoil it didn't you? Never mind talk during the season no doubt when one or both teams may have something to brag about........

Frankly, I'm bored stiff examining every last fragment of the LD's imprecise English to establish who was at fault, when and where. It's only our interpretation of his side of the dealings, and Saints will be saying nothing. Honestly, there are more important things than wrangling the last drop of bile out of the last 4 weeks. Time to look forward.

Exactly.

Everton promised him the sun and stars which means we would have been unwise to match the offer. That's all we've ever really needed to know.

Hi! This is my first post although I’m old enough to have seen a few tackles given by John McGrath! I’m intrigued, as most Saints fans seem to be on the Koeman situation. I feel now, an inevitability to his move. It is the easy option. If he is a success at Everton, spending all that money, he’ll be loved by Liverpudlians, as we did and guaranteed a bonus no doubt of say, 7 million. If he fails, maybe in a year or less, he’ll be sacked but will expect compensation of say, 7 million. The real challenge of a great manager would be to see Southampton into the Champions League, or win a Cup or even progress well in the Europa. A challenge an ambitious manger would embrace. A challenge that Koeman felt he couldn’t achieve. It is time to forget managers who frightened of achieving and find one that can.

I agree with this. He obviously thought he wasn't good enough to move us to the next level. With a new manager maybe we will do better than we did last year in Europe. It wasn't all Wanyama's fault :)

Welcome aboard Si!

Koeman said he wanted to stay, but Saints insisted he had to sign a new contract. So basically, we sacked him and get 5 million compensation for our trouble. And as he wanted to stay for his last season, going to Everton even with all that money as incentive wasn't his first choice....his plan was to stay here, then go elsewhere after that. He's managed to piss off 2 teams at once....quite an achievement....luckily for him, big club fans won't spot that he implied that.

Thanks! It’s strange to be in an environment where Southampton FC isn’t just a novelty. I’m surrounded by the usual Man City/Utd, Liverpool, Spurs, Arsenal (even Everton) et al supporters. All of whom are amazed I actually attend games!
Yes welcome to the board. If you are surrounded by Man City/ Man Utd Liverpool fans, you must be somewhere near London?:)

Indeed welcome. You're amongst Saints supporters almost exclusively here. Although we've known other supporters to come to this forum and stay for a while just because they like it here. We even interchange civil views with Portsmouth fans on occasion. Shame there isn't a contingent of Cherries fans on Not606. They are elsewhere on the Net and not for moving.
