Some clubs need big punishments to wobble a few heads and get them to take the restrictions seriously. Quite how Man City haven't had their charges investigated yet is beyond me.
I know there is supposed to be some updating of the rules coming up this year, but there has to be something done to stop the rich just doing what they want. You KNOW the Saudis are lining up fictitious sponsorship deals to boost their bank balance. It's effectively money laundering. I bet the gravy ****ers up the road won't protest when Sid James Park is renamed The KSA Stadium for £300m a year...
Personally never understood how Man Utd are allowed to sit in over £1billion worth of debt.

PL probably waiting to see how far ahead of 3rd bottom they are before deducting just enough points so they survive...
They do. Forest also looking at a points deduction.

I thought there was another one as i seem to recall when the second one was announced that it might not have time to be decided before the season ended

It just encourages clubs to ignore the rules when they know they can get such paltry penalties. Unless penalties include repayment of revenues earned clubs will keep spending and spending. Our approach is very laudible, but every decision like this makes our approach less likely to succeed.

That's slightly different because the Glazers borrowed money to buy the club and put that debt against the club. Almost like they were buying the club for free.

Wrexham throwing money around in the national and leauge 2, Ipswich in the Championship and Everton have been doing it. Its not fair on others around them. As you say, our approach is the correct one and we're playing by the rules despite our owner reportedly having money. But the correct way we're doing it deems we sell our better players and start again, probably never going up. Football is an odd game and Evertons 6 points deduction is a joke compared to the money they have made staying in the Premier league clearly makes it worth the risk. Someone said the 4 points they gained back probably relegates the bottom 3. Burnley and Sheffield United have been shocking so no great loss. But Luton have tried and done well.

Great point re Luton. Must be gutting for them. They say cheats never prosper, apart from in football it seems.

Luton supporters seem a little peeved that they were docked 30 points in 2009 for financial irregularities which effectively kicked them out of the football league. Life is so unfair!

Hey ho.

Luton put a run together so the give Everton 4 points back lol, spurs 1994 lost 12 points got them back and reinstated back i the F A cup and beat us that season money talks as they say. To me if you have all the contracts of players wages in the bank and never in debt you are o k.

This boils down to the fact that the PL now say they made a serious error in imposing a points deduction that could've relegated a club.

What if Everton hadn't appealed or couldn't afford to, they might be relegated because a bunch of PL accountants and execs.

They're boxing themselves into a corner here.

Everton are clearly cheats, as the've accepted a points deduction ...

... it's just been gauged to keep them up while making the PL look as if they're acting fairly.

I've missed this being said but that's unbelievable. So if Everton were comfortable mid table and the section but them bottom half but comfortably safe still it would be fine?
