I will believe that Scally has used more than just £ 1 of his own money with GFC, before I will believe that you cannot remember Basil Hayward.

My first game was West Ham testimonial for Brian Yeo mate, I remember it as clearly as me stomping up the hill with my Hovis, then someone mentioned Accrington Stanley and I said who are they?....

I got 'escorted' out of the ground - by the Police at that game **( my dad - in the BMS ),was furious with me- as I got taken out via the players' tunnel ! .............These days, I'm trying desperately hard to get banned - but.......no, Mr. Scally insists on me having to suffer.

** I actually had done NOTHING wrong.. I was in the RE when the crowd surged forward.. A mate next to me, got ( wrongly ) accused of starting the 'rush' , and got chucked out by the police.... When I asked another officer for an explanation - he told me '' You can join him.'' (( arm- twisted--up-my-back ))......In the Police Room, I successfully pleaded my innocence - and was allowed re-entry.

    Serious point -- I realise it's rare !

I see that Mr. Scally banned the 'peaceful' protesters ( on Tuesday )- from entering the Cheltenham (4th) game. One of their number, Dom Ballard has gone to Press ( Kent Online ), to voice his concerns about GFC. He presented a polite and sensible viewpoint - which was not vitriolic towards Mr. Scally - in fact it was courteous - far more respectful that I could have been - and even more restrained than I would allow myself.
The police presence at the 'protest' had no reason to intervene - or give any caution for words or behaviour used by Mr Ballard's group..... These people had every democratic right to express themselves - in a peaceful protest.....

I understand that Mr. Scally is permitted to exercise his democratic 'right' to refuse admission to anyone that he wishes to be 'banned.' I do feel it is churlish of Mr. Scally to act by sulking with anyone who dares to express their concern for GFC - not just Mr. Scally. Mr. Scally has continued to display his poor communication skills - and lack of empathy with the fans -- who clearly were not ''yobs '' - as described by Mr. Scally of anyone who dares to not conform to his dictatorial regime....... and - yet - this hypocrite continues to view it as appropriate to continue to take many ££ THOUSANDS of money out of The Club - money that has been given by the fans - the very fans who now have been banned.

Mr. Scally may chose to act with breath-taking arrogance and petulance.... (( This is not unfamiliar with myself - on occasions - but, not in circumstances where I am willing to cut off my nose to spite my face. )) Mr. Scally obviously feels justified in having his cake and eating it - but - ---

I have been a fan for 60 years (( yes, I am that 'old' .)) I have had a season ticket for 'donkeys years.' I attend most away games.... but - I believe that I am reaching a breaking point -- NOT with the team (( as long as they give 100% )), but with the tyrannical style of our Chairman... I do not believe that he has been fair with fans for a long time. (( especially STH- as has been well documented over the time in this ( and other ) forum. ))
My allegiance is to Gillingham Football Club - not -Mr. P. Scally !.... I have given him sufficient praise for his business skill in paying £1 for the Club ( and taking millions out of it. ) I have stated that many ( if not most ), people, in his position would act with much the same self-interest....

I feel that Mr. Scally has been handsomely rewarded for his 'consultancy' skills - (( actually, I mean that he has rewarded himself )... I feel uncomfortable with fans being unjustly treated - for merely showing genuine concern for the future of The Club -- all done with a peaceful protest - without mob violence and mass destruction of property - or arson, looting etc!...

I feel that I can no longer sit back - without supporting these peaceful protesters - who probably expressed the viewpoint of - dare I say 99.9+% of ALL fans of GFC...... What would Mr. Scally have done if the other 99.9+% of the fans, on Tuesday night joined the protest ?..... The only reason, imho, why other fans do not express their feelings -is because it would be futile..... Quite clearly, nothing will change - all the while Mr. Scally is in charge..... Some of that is NOT his fault - but- his interaction with the ( non-protesting ) fans, has not exactly endeared himself to them - and he fails to understand that his reaction - or lack of dialogue or action to address the real concerns of the fans, will further alienate him..

I have got to the point, this morning, where I do not have much 'stomach' for going to use my season ticket for Saturday's game - and not just because I can't have support for the current first 11 - who, by their inexperience, have insufficient quality to compete - but - because of my implied support and 'acceptance' of the contempt in which fans are being held - if I choose to do nothing or say nothing in support of the peaceful protesters.

All they want to do is support the Club and the playing side (( and not from the position of a tax exile for 10 years ! ))**.. At least they're not giving Mr. Scally any more money.

** I wonder if Windyrog has a spare room ?

I’m with you Always. He’s gone too far this time. We fans have been treated with utter contempt for too long.

my reply (above), to your post of over 2 months ago.... Can you explain what's happened since ? Did you '' Smile - because things could be worse ''? ...... You obviously did smile, and indeed things are worse !............ OK, I'm not actually blaming you for the crapastrophe at Priestfield - that's down to a hybrid called ScEvanslly.

I have been eloquent with my negativity towards Scally..... plenty more Gills fans ( ex attendees on match day ), are catching me up !
The situation, with results is very close to (( if not already )) beyond being ridiculous and unacceptable.
With practically every other football club that has ever existed, the Manager would have been sacked long before you started the thread on 6th November - (( which is my wife's birthday - did you mean I should be looking for Mrs A No.2 ? )).

Evans obviously has no self esteem, pride or shame at the shambles that exist. He knows that, in the Summer, he won't be the manager at GFC.... He has chosen to follow the example of Scally... to continue to take, take, take more of my money. and bleed the cashcow dry...... An honourable manager, with not even half the abysmal record that Evans has in this season, would have done the decent thing... he would have offered his resignation - and probably offered to waive the rest of his contract .

As for Scally - just how many owners of a business (( or Governors of a school )), would accept the continued gross mismanagement and underperformance by a Supervisor - without sacking the (those) concerned.....

The fact that neither Scally or Evans have 'reviewed ' their respective ' tenure ' is an insult to all fans of Gillingham Football Club. .... I have been a loyal and decent fan of GFC for nearly 60 years...... Is it too much for me to expect that one or both of the monster that is ScEvanslly would do the decent thing for just one day ?? .... Both of them should just go and stop simply being greedy clots (( you can edit the last word to suit.))

After yesterday shambles Scally had no option to get rid of Evans.
Ok I did want Evans to stay on original post but enough is enough.
Flynn is still available so hope he will come.
On the grapevine sounds like Neil Smith
Whoever comes in it will be a mini miracle if we stay up.
I don't think it will happen, just hope we start playing be competitive, Crete chances and give us hope for next season.
Another note is Dempsey being sold shortly

I'm always pleased to see Mr Evans looking for a job rather than having one. Having said that though he has been sacked a shed load of times but keeps coming back. Don't you find this is the problem in football where a club sacks a manager and then has a list of other managers who have been sacked from other places. It's a constant merry-go-round with them. The question is, is it better to find a brand spanking new manager even if untried rather than a perpetual failed one. Even the premier league do it.

I'm really happy that Evans has gone, but I don't totally blame him for our failings this season. Afterall he gave us one season, where we didn't have to look over our shoulder once at relegation, he got us on the verge of the play-offs.

He does it with tactics, that I'm not wholeheartedly in support of and with us it has to be done with loan players, and that's the problem any manager has that comes to us imho, although the chairman may disagree.

Last season we had players such as Jordan Graham, who this season is at Championship side Birmingham City, so it shows the level we were at, but they are not our players, and every season you constantly have to rebuild, and find alternative loan players.

Look at our keeper, Cummings, I'd argue he's the best in this division, but again a loan, from Chelsea.

So where did it go wrong this season, same old same old really, you have to raise to every new challenge, and what worked last season wasn't working this season with a different set of players, it's then the manager tends to become the problem, old habits die hard.

He wasn't the worst we had, although stats might suggest he was, he wasn't the best we had, but he might have been if we had money to splash about during covid.

Bristol Rovers thought they could buy success and are now sitting 18th in L2, so for us it was time to bale out, while we still could.

It's the man himself I don't like brb rather than any tactics. I can't say I've ever had to look at him and analyse. The other thing I'm not too happy with is the constant swapping of managers where one gets chopped at club A then gets a job at club B followed by numerous other letters of the alphabet. There doesn't seem to be an appetite for a new man in charge. Managers just get passed around and around and pretty much fail wherever they go. Which obviously points out that only a small few can succeed anyway.

I don't agree with your loan player theory though. I don't think you have to borrow a shed load of players from clubs above. One or two perhaps but not half a squad. We did that last year and it started out well only to fall apart halfway through the season. We had often done it like Gillingham does and it rarely worked. What we did this time was partly develop our own from the youth set up and introduce them bit by bit into the first team and bring in our own players rather than loans. We are a self sustaining club now and our owner will not bust a bank to pay for transfers we can't afford or pay wages we haven't got. We get free players with only the occasional small fee paid but if they are any good we then get to sell on rather than return a better player having developed them. Why develop somebody else's player when you can do it for your own is the new philosophy. Have to say it has worked quite well this season although of course it could still go tits up. The coaches have dictated a style of play that has been adopted from the bottom to the top. The 10 year olds have to play the same way the first team does. If an 18 year old has to play in the first team they already know what they have to do. It's a good way of working and I don't know why other clubs haven't seen the benefits.

We didn't have no choice with our loan players, which is why I mentioned Bristol Rovers. It wasn't a choice!

Due to covid, we can't have players on the book, that weren't playing football. Loads of money Rovers stepped in and took our CB and one of our Strikers, which they were elated with, until the truth dawned, that money don't always buy you success and to my delight, they got relegated.

Maybe you could afford to keep your players when we had no crowds and no football, I would assume our Chairman was doing his best to keep the club on a level footing, hence we had to take out some financial loan offered by the EFL.

You might have money to buy players, we quite simply don't. You might have a nice ground with a 'nice away stand', we don't. You might have a flush chairman, we don't. So why you might not agree with my loan theory, that is the reality of life for some people.

Yes you can develop from the Youth set up, but let's not go there eh. That's why you are sitting in the play-offs and we are not. But if you fancy a word with our Chairman for us, he promises to reply, ask @alwaysright how he got on.

I wouldn't dare suggest your club is better run...nooo sireeee, but just because your basket is full off eggs at the moment, don't go counting them until they're hatched. Rovers were gloating like that last season until it all went...well you know.

First thing is we don't have a flush Chairman. We do have a very astute one though. The money he has put in has been used to improve the ground and training facilities not the first team with the exception of a small amount. We survived no crowds during Covid closure because of two things. The first being the season ticket holders who number about 5/6k. The vast majority had renewed their season tickets and then couldn't attend. The club offered to refund the money but most said no and the club kept it. Also secondly the previous owner being even more astute had taken out an insurance against loss of earnings. It paid us £2m. At the end of the closed period we were still in the black unlike I agree most others.

Believe me when I say I am not gloating brb. Neither do I expect any success given I have been there done that and failed more often than not over many many years. It wasn't meant as a gloat it was meant as an alternative to borrowing players you still have to pay wages to and bringing them on for the benefit of other clubs rather than any gain for your own. We also got a manager who was prepared to give youth a chance from our own academy. We as supporters moaned for England about playing an 18 year old from Liverpool rather than play an 18 or even 20 year old from our own set up. We now play our own mostly with only a couple of loans to fill in. It has mostly paid off although I acknowledge it won't always and might not have. I don't see how paying players who are freebies is anymore expensive than a loan and if they blossom suddenly then the free players could turn into a profit for the next bunch.,

One thing I decidedly don't do is count chickens in any context. We haven't done a Rovers and our Chairman won't under any circumstances. He does however talk to the fans and is quite open and honest with us. Refreshing just doesn't cover that aspect. We are lucky in that we get good crowds though and that has developed over the last few years because of the football brand we have been playing and the open ways of the Board. Janners are very fickly beasts though so the current love in could end at any time. At the moment there is an "in adversity" thing happening and having been made to feel part of the club the Janners have voted with their feet towards rather than away from the club.
