I know it's a cultural thing: it's almost unthinkable for a Mexican or South American commentator not to do it. For me, an English commentator doing it is a lazy option.

I went into the Euros with the intention of listening to games on the radio while watching them on silent (the time delay is practically non-existent if I listen via the internet), but scrapped that once I realised that Stan Collymore was commentating and that Sam Matterface is even worse.

ooh i love Stan Collymore, he talks (rather loudly) such a lot of sense! Sam Matterface is dreadful lol

I've got Italy in the F1 sweepstakes. It'd be nuts if I won there: I've predicted about 25 races in the pre-race polls they have there, and never ever backed a winning driver.

At least in the Watford prediction league I got two or three correct scores in a season.

There have been some pretty awful finals over the years, but tonight was not one of them.

Well done to both teams. <applause>

Spain were very good...Italy considerably less so. I would have enjoyed it more had it been closer. The triangular passing is incredibly skilful at times but palls after a while. It felt a bit like watching a practice game. As far Lawrenson's remarks during the game, I can't see either why he's there.

Spain were very good...Italy considerably less so.

Too many bad passes from both sides, straight to the opposition, behind their own players as they were moving forward into open spaces or not even hard enough to reach their own players. Couple that with the Italian predilection for rolling around in agony after losing the ball without being touched, and I start to wonder what is in store for The Vic patrons next season.
