This Sweden/Ukraine match has all the hallmarks of being utter ****e.

Neither team likes possession, so both will just sit back while the other has the ball.

Well, that was nice. Credit where credit's due, you're judged on results and Southgate got the win.

The Germans start the autopsy
.
They've not been great since they won the World Cup, didn't even get out of the group stages in Russia and been iffy in qualifying (losing to N Macedonia).

They've been hanging onto too many of the old players cause the younger ones aren't doing the business. Hummels and Neuer probably should have retired from international and Kroos and Muller can't be far behind. I expect all 4 to announce they're done with Germany soon.

Problem is there isn't much to replace them with yet.
I expect German to do what they did before. Start to rebuild and accept lesser results for a while.

Hummels and Müller were dropped but ultimately brought back in because the younger players weren't stepping up enough and their club form made them impossible to ignore.

I think the bigger issue is Löw. He's not been consistently able to implement a new team and system. Be interesting to See how Flick gets on.

Both these teams looked knacked already. Plus there is a good chance it'll go the 120mins at this rate.

They'll be ****ed by Saturday.
