You can always get tickets for any game outside the ground, obviously they're well above face value, but they're always available (you just have to watch for fakes, but they're usually not very good fakes). I did Japan, Portugal and Germany before giving up on following England away, I just do home games nowadays.
Thanks OLM. At least the ex-missus is French & might be able to detect a fraud - she managed to suss me out
The first batch of tickets went on sale June 10, closed July 10 this year, before the qualifiers ended. I applied for 2 tickets for 4 games at Bordeaux (nearest of the stadia to me) on the EUFA website, nothing to do with club England. Got an email to say I had been unsuccessful in the ballot for all 4.
Thanks Warwick. Seems it's either lottery time (bad luck for you it seems) or scalpers as OLM pointed out. Ah well - some great bars in Nice. That'll do for me - still be plenty of atmosphere.
There is a group of us going over to France from Canada, going to wait for the draw then plan our trip. Thinking of renting a car or a mini bus and Tenting it for few weeks, get tickets near ground. If England crash out in group stage then go to Ibiza or somewhere like that!
If you pay £75 for the England Travel Club and buy a cheap ticket for England v France - I don't suppose you even have to attend; you could give them away to somebody if you get the tickets early enough - then I suppose you would have a chance to buy tickets when they are released. Unfortunately, you may only have the opportunity to buy England tickets and obviously we won't know where they are playing until the draw takes place on 12 December 2015.
Thanks for the input Peter. I reckon I'll just base myself in Nice & hope for the best that the draw falls in my favour. Not wonderful odds that we get England games in Nice and/or Marseilles, but at least there will be plenty of bars showing all of the games one way or another. My enquiries indicate high levels of activity on bookings for accommodation in the Nice area already for the whole of the tournament period. To be expected I suppose. Thanks again.
My days of following England around ended after the Hoddle era. I would have done after Euro 96 but Hoddle had the players with talent back then. My last game was the Beckham kick-out. Felt cheated and events now make me feel that the ref. was under Fifa orders to help Argentina when he could. Now I simply watch England on the telly box.
