Arsenal better not be hoping that Poldolski is going to take over from Van Persie. Been crap tonight and I'm yet to be impressed with him, looks to be along for the ride.

After finally impressing me against Holland, Gomez has gone back to his usual knack of being rubbish whenever I watch him

Everytime I've seen him he's been pants but seems to keep scoring goals for Munich and Germany. Something we missed this year, someone who can stand in the area and stick the ball in the net.

Gomez is like Dzeko. Unplayable when he's on form, sluggish and cumbersome when he's not.

Looks like he's been subbed.

Boetang is another German player who looks to be good when the team and the stars perform, but when the game is tight and the team isnt playing well just looks to be a passenger. Its no wonder Man City got shut, a reputation built on the performance of those around him.

Can't believe this German team have been so poor. I knew they were weak at the back but they've had absolutely no clue going forward either.

Final is going to be dull as dish water.

Life with Mario around is rarely dull DF <laugh> fair result tonight in fact it could have been 4 or 5 by the end. Not often you say that about the Germans eh.

That's true; he might start humping a Spanish defender, or hide a chihuahua under his shirt for his goal celebrations. or just go & sit in the crowd & drink a beer.

I tell you what; how long before you start hearing the "what golden generation" conversations in Germany?

I'm quite looking forward to the final. I predicted that Spain would win before the tournament (like most pundits) and I'm still fairly confident that will be the case tonight. Although Italy appear to be peaking at the right time I think Spain are due another good performance and it'll be very close - like their group stage meeting. Penalties are fairly likely and, if that happens, I'd slightly favour Spain. Tonight we'll see how good Italy are without the ball. They outplayed the Germans - the other main 'possession team' - but I doubt they'll do the same against the Spanish. If they are resolute at the back (as Italian teams often are) they might get a result - especially if their forwards, Cassano and Balotelli, are on song. If Italy take their chances (teams usually get few against the Spanish), Spain could be shocked into defeat, as their is a lot of pressure on them to make the record books with a third consecutive tournament win. All in all it will be fascinating...or, as some might have it, dull as ditchwater. ;)

Prediction: putting my neck out I'll say 1-1 Spain (Italy to score first and then Spain to win on penalties).

That's not too bad, GCOS, I predicted a Spain win (not too bad so far), but with Holland and Germany as the next best teams. <doh>

Russia were my Dark Horse tip - <doh> <doh>!

France were my (not so) dark horse <doh>

Well, they did better than Russia. One game better, but better. I've never been that impressed with the current French, team. They remind me of England: big names but tend to bottle it as a team (although they both did better this tournament, admittedly).

To be fair, considering the groups that they were in, France did quite a lot better than Russia despite it only being 'one game further'...<laugh>

I think you can throw Holland into that little hat with England and France, possibly Germany too <ok>
