Alonso's passing is letting him down thus far. Not like him to misplace so many passes. Bit of nerves from the Spanish?

Also, totally agree that Casillas is not looking too comfortable today. Italy will hopefully look to exploit that fact.

Ha ha. <ok> I've also noticed this. It tends to grate after a while. It's like he's auditioning for the most sarcastic man in the world award. Maybe he's the new Chandler Bing? Without the occasional glimpses of humour.

    Game over.

Xavi plays a lovely ball into the left-back, Alba, who slots it away nicely.

Commentator on ITV1 has just said an amazing thing. As the half was ending, he said: "Imagine what they'd [Spain] be like with a centre forward!" What makes him think they'd be any better? They've scored two, already. They're about to win a third consecutive tournament. Most importantly, they've done this without a recognized centre forward. I'm not sure what else to say. Is this comment just indicative of our lithified football thinking? No centre forward?...Does not compute! Isn't it the same as saying "Imagine how good they'd be if if their full backs didn't bomb forward like that at every opportunity!" about the dominant brazilian team of the 70s? Maybe I'm missing something. :emoticon-0176-smoke

How can anyone claim Spain are boring. Their passing is 2nd to none and when they want to they can just cut through teams. The only time they are slightly boring is when teams play 11 men behind the ball and don't move from their 18yard box. Even then they normally find a way to get through.

Aim of the game is to win, no one says you have to win every game 6-0

With the forwards they have at the tournament at the moment they wouldn't be any better but with Villa I think they would. He's such a cass player and offers something different to make runs onto the through balls. A on form Torres would also make them more dangerous as it would just give them a cutting edge which they've missed in a few games this tournament.

I agree entirely with this, IBWT. <ok>

I, personally, love watching Spain play. Intricate, pinpoint passing, slicing through the opposition like a lancet through fascia. It often brings out the inner poet, who really should have his tongue removed.
