Off Topic EU deabte. Which way are you voting ?

Bellend Boris is quoted as saying that he will dismantle workers rights that the EU had implemented if the leave campaign win.

 

And Hameron is already attempting to do away with peoples human rights, with help from Teresa May. Only thing stopping them is the EU at mo

Very weird comment - all i did is point out a fact, that EU regs protect a huge amount of our rights.

I pointed out another fact that out standing government want to do away with lots of those rights.

And you call that 'wizardry' and 'magic'

 

Yes but we were hardly doing 'alright' through large parts of the 70s. And since then weve had huge globalisation with multinational corporations becoming richer than most countries. We are now loving in a much more integrated world where goods, money, information and people travel round the world and work together across borders, continents and cultures.

One of the results is that every country is coming together and building closer links - the EU, the South East Asian trading bloc, the North American one ect.

Yet at the same time some people want us to become more isolationist and go it alone to compete against the biggest trading blocs in the world...

 

The EU's reach has grown too far.

Cameron wants to fast track ****ing Turkey into the EU (terrifying prospect). Even if we do have a veto and I suspect we don't, we will not be able to outvote all the other member states and the EU will push through whatever they want and tell Britain to stay in their place.

We will not be exempt from bailing out other members as much as Cameron and the Remain campaign would have you believe. The fact is we would be giving the green light to the EU to strangle us even more should we remain in this corrupt, failed project.

Immigration IS a necessary part of life for this country, I accept that and I myself work with some very lovely Poles and Lithuanians. But we *must* be able to control the numbers, it is as simple as that, Fuhrer Merkel's open door policy is insane. We cannot carry on being a part of this corrupt, undemocratic union. If you truly love your country, you will vote OUT on June 23rd.

 

Umm we DO have a veto (you know the one we used when other EU countries wanted to stop the market being flooded with Chinese steel). And we cant get OUTVOTED, all nations need to agree for legislation to be passed.

 

Regardless of what you think about Brexit, Farage came across as a proper **** when he did the ITV debate the other evening.

I think he's entertaining but "we're British, we're better than that" is a **** manifesto.

 

I respect anyone who wants to remain in the EU, it is after all your vote and it counts as much as everyone elses.

The thing that frustrates me is that we have this golden chance to become truly independent again and forge our own destiny. I believe in Great Britain, not the un-elected, unaccountable bureaucrats of the European Union. It is a fact that is it not just Britain's that want out of the EU and hopefully *if* we do leave, it will spark the disassemble-ment of the EU. The EU once had noble intentions (perhaps) and it could have worked had it been ourselves, Germany and a couple more of the relatively rich northern European countries, but as it is this "EU super-state" (and that is what they want..) continues to absorb poor/weak countries that offer little except a huge pool of people to provide cheap labour for the mega-corporations.

Anyway I won't get dragged in here, I honestly only came on tonight after seeing super Payet had scored the French's winner

No. Purely anecdotal. Don't want to paint myself as anti immigration but locally all I see is eastern European food markets cropping everywhere in my local town. A multi cultural country is absolutely fine by me I'd just prefer to see a level of need being met by migration.

 

I see this all the time. I would prefer to be on Tony Benn's side than George Osborne's

 

It's worrying just how much of a platform ****head farage has got. He's an opportunist playing on the fears and insecurities around immigration. People need to cultivate a critical mind, but too many are simply sucked in by meaningless soundbites and bullshit cliches peddled by ****s like farage and the right wing rags.

 

At least Benn was honest. TBH, I was against pretty much everything he said, and thought he was a bit utopian in his outlook. But, I respected his honesty in saying what he believed.

 

It is though. As per the example I gave above, low paid manual work is often filled by Eastern European workers. Gaps in specialist areas like surgeons, research, and technical / engineering specialists are often filled by foreign workers where the uk lacks the specialisms.

The arguments I hear from the right wing about immigration putting pressure on public services, transport, housing, education, NHS etc have got more to do with lack of investment and public spending cuts. If the Tories put more energy into recovering some of the £180bn missing from the exchequer from multi national corporations dodging taxes, and spending that on housing, schools, transport infrastructure and the NHS, they could spend less time blaming Johnny Foreigner for the problems.

 

But you werent talking about EU doctors. You were talking about not getting enough from outside the EU as a result. But I find that hard to believe when we have 185,000 net coming in from all around the globe. And I've been treated/seen plenty of them.
