The deal Cameron did meant that any immigrant had to fund themselves for 3 months before they could claim a bean. They then only got JSA and child benefit for 3 months - and no housing benefit, before having to either prove they had imminent work i.e. a job offer, or their benefits stopped. So this stopped people just rocking up intending to be benefit tourists.Perhaps if we adopt the policy in many other countries, so it's not viable to move unless you can support yourself financially, it'd be irrelevant. We did try, but the EU stopped us changing our domestic policy. That's not democracy in my eyes.
The overall impact of EU immigration was a positive figure for the treasury coffers.
Sadly the exceptions were all the junk Tory media focused on, as opposed to the vast majority who were just hard working economic migrants.
