Not sure which one you're talking about Bluey, but I don't do funerals these days pal.

My father died when I was just a 17 year old and I vowed I'd never get that upset again. Then the trauma of my mother and both my wife's parents, my 63 year old elder brother along with a 2 year old very close young person in the family all leaving us over this past 6 years has killed me off for the experience. I obviously went to those but again vowed they would be the last.

A close work colleague of mine I'd known for 25 years who was in his early 60's passed away just before last Christmas - I just couldn't go, but his wife and son understood.

Enough of that - back to the quiz, and just where is Masky?

I was on about Steve Strange's funeral at Porthcawl today. Spandau Ballet and other 80's faces there. So my wife tells me.

Barry is quite right - the correct referee's decision would be to award a corner.

"The goal kick is a direct free kick. When the ball is brought back into play as a result of a goal kick, the ball is not in play until it has left the penalty area. No player including the kick taker may touch the ball until it has done so. If any player touches the ball before the whole of the ball has left the penalty area, the kick shall be retaken.

If the ball leaves the penalty area and then directly enters the opponents goal, a goal shall be awarded. If the ball crosses any part of the possession team's goal line without being touched by another player, the referee shall award a corner kick to the opposing side."

OK guys - let's take this on a bit further.

Same scenario - the keeper blasts the goal kick out into the teeth of a gale and then realises the ball is going to blow back into his own goal. On instinct he catches it to prevent it going over the line.

What should the referee award?
 
I believe the match would be called off because I'm pretty sure the game is unplayable in those conditions... or are we playing with a fly-away down Barry Island?

EDIT: In more seriousness I believe it would be some kind of foul play, maybe an indirect freekick or something?
 
Assuming the keeper catches the ball inside the penalty area it's an indirect free kick.
If he catches it outside the penalty area its a direct free kick.
 
OK, you last three are correct, though it looks like Barry has got the rulebook in front of him because he's spot on......<laugh>

OK then clever clogs :emoticon-0105-wink:, here's another one based on the same sort of thing.

A goal kick is taken by a player other than the goalkeeper and the ball leaves the penalty area only to return without another player touching it. The goalkeeper then picks it up and kicks it out again.

What is the referee's decision?
