I'm sure I've heard a tune about this bloke.

Eric Bailly, a little dodgy maybe. But underneath, he's alright...

Leicester City, who until this season were relegation fodder, signed a non league player for £1m and gave him 80k a week?
I have an extremely hard time believing that.

EDIT: Looked it up and sources indicate he is on 45k per week, tops.

To chip in with this argument, I get the point of view where people understand why he will leave for the money at his age but isn't he rich enough? How much do you have to earn and is that all that footy is about now? Stay at Leicester and continue the dream, have a stab at the CL with this group of players and manager, it's Roy of the Rovers stuff as they say and you're getting paid a **** load anyway, set for life.

Thats the point though, its not his dream.
Isn't he rich enough, you say? You live to your means Gonz, a footballer has a short career, and who knows what kind of pension fund Vardy has, he probably never expected to be earning this sort of scratch 5 years ago, he peaked late, you forget he hasn't been earning 100k a week since he was 19/20 like a lot of PL players have, 6 years ago he was earning £350 a week playing for whoever the **** FC, he wants to milk this for all he can, and a final 90k per week offer from Arsenal for the last few years of his career will be just what the doctor ordered.

All true but for the last year at least he's eared 45k a week that's over 2 million plus add ons, so he's now rich and will be able to get a contract that doubles that. So rich enough to continue playing the game with his mates at Leicester, is there more to this story? Do you want to continue creating history by playing in the CL with Leicester and defending your title or do you want to become just another player?

How much food will that buy him when he is 50?
How many bills will that pay?
He will play in the Champions League with Arsenal instead........and?

Again, becoming just another player? Fans have this tendency (and Liverpool fans in particular, no offence) of romanticizing everything and projecting their feelings or attitudes on to players. This is his job..........he doesn't love Leicester any more than I love Reebok Fitness (My employer), no doubt he has immensely enjoyed playing for them and is grateful for what they have done for his career, but this is HIS career, and his life, and all the Leicester fans won't have to live with his decision if he turns down millions of pounds a year to stay at leciester.......

It's not like he'd be leaving Leicester to take a step down. Arsenal are in the CL and will definitely finish above Leicester in the league next season.

The Leicester story last season was all very nice but they won't go close to repeating it. I still don't particularly rate their manager and it would be extraordinary for a group of around 14 players to stay in top form and fitness for two seasons.

Vardy, Mahrez, Kante etc and their advisors will know all of that and chase the glory and money.

Yes this is very true, my love of footy comes down to this. He will earn enough to live very comfortably, there's no need to chase the money. He will have a love for Leicester and that team because of what they have done and as you say football is a short career, how many have chased the cash and ended up on a bench and then before you know it age catches you and you're dropping down leagues or being transferred again only for it to be another bench. Why not enjoy the game other than chasing cash?

Before you know it you're the landlord of a pub telling footy stories to punters or a commentator trying to be contraversial so that BT or Sky keep you on for another year.

    Exactly this.
Leicester will probably struggle to get in to the top 4 again.
If he stays at Leciester another year, he will play CL footie for them yes, probably for one season, but by then he will 30, his value will have dropped and he will be less likely to court contract offers such as the one he has received from Arsenal.
This really is a no brainer, career wise.

Like they struggled to win the league? A year ago we'd be laughing our tits of at the suggestion of them winning it. I'm not going deffo them being **** next season if they hang onto those players.

Scenario A. A footy career where you get to the PL you then have the choice of winning nothing being mainly a bench player for a massive club but earning 10 million.

Scenario B. A footy career wheer you get to the PL you then start most games for a club mid table but win some trophies and have a great time and earn 5 million.

    What would you do?

I'd go less money and more footy every time, I imagine that choice becomes more difficult if we lower scenario B and higher A.

If he moves to Arsenal within 2 years he will be sold to Liverpool/Everton for 8m.
If I was him I would stay

Haven't Leicester apparently matched Arsenal's offer?

In this case, then what's the best choice? I accept Arsenal are 'bigger' but if Leicester keep all their players they've as much of a shout in the CL as Arsenal. Arsenal aim to get out of the group, that's it.

Why not aim a bit higher with Leicester?

Similarly, it is Leicester who are the Champions. Arsenal haven't won it in years.

If it were United, Chelsea or Spurs after Vardy I'd say go for it but Arsenal? Why would he?
They will expect him to adapt to their game, not the other way round. He's as well staying as the money will be just the same.

I kind of dismissed Liverpool as beneath Vardy (and Leicester) to be honest.

He's got to aim high man.
