I do indeed mean Djemba. I was at his debut, a charity shield in Cardiff.

He came on to much fanfare, the crowd giving him a rapturous welcome. It was without doubt his finest moment as a United player.

He played quite well in his first couple of games.

He was ****ing terrible after that.

Surely with Schneiderlin we don't need Kante?

Just get someone to use him properly. If we are to go after one Leicester player is should be Mahrez. If we sign Zlatan and this Bailly bloke we only really need a right sided attacker and he's your man.

I'd rather Mahrez than Willian.

We need the hard working hard tackling midfielder. But I must say Mahrez is a United type of player. His dribbling skills and distribution should really suit our style. So why not both ? <whistle>

I must say if Vardy, kante and Mahrez all go, I am putting some money on Leicester being relegated. Will I get 5000-1 from the bookies?

I still think it's a disgrace that Leicester would not be allowed to defend their tittle with two of their best players. Word is out that Arsenal would go for Mahrez. Arsenal should just by the whole Leicester squad.

Even if he did that, they would still not win the league

Well it's up to them to keep the players then. They've got some top players and other clubs are bound to be interested, you make it sound like they've been banned from defending their title with their better players! No one is actually stopping them.

In Vardy's case I get it, he'll be 30 during next season so this is his last and only chance of playing for a 'big' club.

I agree though that Kante and Mahrez should stick around for the season and play in the CL with Leicester and have a go at defending the league.

Then they can leave.

All of the Leicester players know that this last season was a once in a lifetime happening and that next season (especially without Vardy) they will do badly in the PL, will undoubtedly stall in the CL and things will be back to relegation-battle normal. Having hit the highs they will now bail out and head for a bigger club, a club that might offer a (remote) chance at the PL title and regular European football.

Idiots like Trevor Sinclair saying they don't know why Vardy is moving to Arsenal "He is settled at Leicester, he has just won the premier league, why would he want to move?"

Erm....******, he is 30 in a few months, he is probably on about 20k a week at Leicester, he will probably be on about 90k + per week with Arsenal. He will more than triple his salary, and as he is 30 very soon, this is probably the last and only time he will be offered a move on such wages at a much bigger club.
Annoys me when pundits and fans think that players should carry the same loyalty and love for their club as they do.
Your Steven Gerrard's and Alan Shearer's are few and far between. Vardy isn't even from Leicester, so other than the fact that he has played for them for a couple years, he is has no major love connection or affinity with Leicester. I am sure he has loved playing for them and winning the league, but football, ultimately is the man's job, and how he makes a living. He no doubt has a family too, so trebling your wages, and moving to London for a much better quality of life for himself and his family is a no brainer.

Why are some people having such a hard time getting their heads around this?
If you lived and worked in Leicester and were offered a new job in a much better city, with triple the salary and no doubt other awesome benefits, would you turn down because you loved your current employer that much?

Every £20k a week extra they are offered by other clubs is £1m a year.

So someone offers a player a £40k a week pay rise on a four year contract. That's £8m being dangled in front of them.

Easy to say it shouldn't be about the money.

Hard to say no when the money will set your kids and their kids up for life.

It's not like it's Rooney asking for another £50k a week on top of his £250k a week that he's been earning for a decade!

If it was that ridiculous then I would understand it. But he's on £80k a week at Leicester, and Arsenal are offering £120k a week so it's not as great a gap as you might think. But yes, difficult to turn down an extra £8 million over four years.

Although as I said on the other thread, what are the odds Arsenal will turn around and try and sell him in a couple of years if the goals dry up, whereas Leicester would probably keep him around and let him see out his contract in the PL. After all, Wenger practically threw players like Merson out the door as soon as he felt they were getting on a bit.

Wenger is, for the first and last time, only thinking one season ahead.

Yep. And he may only have one season left.

Which is why I think Vardy should think very carefully before being part of Wenger's last hurrah. It's not like an RVP situation where he can pretty much guarantee a title win by moving. He may end up having a poor season, then being off to the championship when a new manager comes in.
